Best video card

So, the instant I get my new motherboard and CPU, the GeForce 4 ti 4200 I was using decides to wig out with all things Direct 3D and create nasty yellow blobs and jumping polygons all over the place. Underclocking it, trying different drivers... Nothing worked, so I'm on a nasty PCI GeForce 4 MX for the time being.

I'd like the price to be $150, but if it'll make THAT huge of a difference, I can wait until I have $200. I was thinking of a 256 meg Radeon 9600 XT, as they go for about $150 on Newegg.

My Radeon 9600 Pro runs Half Life 2 fine, so I think an XT with 256 RAM would be plenty.

You can get a 9800pro from Circuit City for $179 this week.

6600 GT all the way, they blow 9800 Pros out of the water and Newegg has them starting around $170.

yeah but the sub $200 ones are pci-e, the agp ones are about $220. in his price range id say a 9800 pro or a 5900.

but yeah if he can spend $30 id go for the 6600gt.

I also say the 9800pro for the money but if you could wait even longer then the 6600GT is best for the price. Newegg has a few AGP 6600GTs in the $216-$230 range which is great and convinced a friend who has a Ti 4200 to get it.

Don't get the 5900..I've seen benchmarks that show its not even as good as the 9800pro these days in many games. 6600GT is the best bang for the buck at the moment.

If you're just talking about cards in general, I beg to differ. I got my 8x AGP card for just under $150.

Completely and totally lacking on the money, though. I had to struggle to get enough for the 9800 Pro I'm about to buy.
