I like the idea of keeping the classics in an arcade but I don't want to be ripped off for it. I know arcade operators want to stay in business too but they need to find better ways.
It's like the day I found a MsPacman/Galaga Class of 81 cab only to see "insert 2 credits to play" on the screen. No way. These games have always and will always be a quarter. I don't care how fancy the cab looks.
I've played home-made MAME cabs that were far superior.
What disturbs me about Tekken 5 is I saw some guy playing T5 with his PS2 controller plugged in at the arcade. Did I miss something? When did going to the arcade mean you had a choice in the controls?Quote:

These Ultracades have been at every Dave & Busters I've been to (3). Judging by the amount of deviation between the D&Bs, I'd say that there should be one at all of them.
Since Namco got smart and realized that most American arcades do not maitain their controls at all, and that doing so would keep the game more lively at those locations. It was an experimental, unsupported feature in Soul Calibur 2 originally, so most arcades did not enable it but the ones that did universally got a positive response from it. Also note how the ports are hidden off to the side, out of plain view so some schmuck can not just brainlessly put some gum or peanut butter in the controller port.Quote:

That's senseless. Then again, most of what happens in the arcade industry is senseless. :chick:Quote:

Until the home version comes out -- in a month.Quote:

So even at $3,000, and 50 cents a pop, it's working. Senseless, yes, a good business decision, apparently so.

March 17th. And if you think that a home version release has a detrimental effect on arcade play, think about MvC2.Quote:
