I think it has already started here, but I'm not quite sure.
I thought the first miniseries sucked. One of the actors said it was awful.
My manager is pretty excited about this though. I guess it's something that my generation missed :\
So is this supposed to be like StarWars the series or something? I know about Cylons or whatever but thats pretty much it.
Wow, never heard anyone saying it sucked. To each his own, I guess. The original series was definitely more campy than the recent incarnation, but I thought the more recent was the better of the two.
I knew something was wrong when they a showed hot, female Cylon making out with a human in the first episode of the mini-series. I turned it off and didn't watch after that.
Sci-fi channel sucks.
Oh, and it's true, Edward James Olmos said in interviews that if you were a fan of the original series, you'd hate this show. Not sure if he meant it as a bash against his own show, but the way he worded it it sure sounded as such.
Anyone catch this? I was pretty underwhelmed and thought the season premiere was the worst episode of the series yet.
Going back to last year, I'm not quite "getting" that cylon chick always being in Baltar's (sp) head? They implant a chip in him or something?
Man, I like the series.
And, besides, it's something to do on a Friday night.
I like the series too, I just thought last night's episode sucked monkey balls.
You could, I don't know...go out? Then again, you're 16, you couldn't get in anywhere good.Quote:

He is pretty cool. I don't think they're making him Russian in the movies though, which sucks. His powers fit the stereotypical Russian well (hard outter shell, nice on the inside).
Watch Johnny Zero on FOX. Excellent show.Quote:

Someone, tell my what happened last Friday (the 28th).
Not a hell of a lot. Um, there was a long drawn out thing about Zak and his relationship with Starbuck and how she fucked up by giving him wings. An accident happened on board Galactica and 8 pilots were killed, so Adama assigns Starbuck to train them and she has issues with her past and Adama finally finds out that she did the wrong thing with his son. The episode ended with 8 Cylon Raiders finding the Galactica and Starbuck basically taking them on by herself. It ended with her in flames and the infamous "to be continued..."
I like the series too.. most specially when they encountered battles. ;)Quote:

anyone here seen the tv guide lately? they will featured BG as collectibles. :d
Pleasently surprised.
The miniseries was great and I'm up to 7 on the series (have 12 so far) and it's good shit.

I just watched this and I'm definitely down about not catching it from the beginning. It's well-directed, the airfighter scenes are well choreographed and everything seems top notch. The one thing I'm noticing is the distinct Firefly-esque space shots of the ships (Galactica). They definitely took a page from Whedon's book on that cinematography, which is a good thing.
ei i got my collectible edition now of Battlestar Galactica.
here's the cover guys.

The season finale is going to kick ass.
I loved it when Apollo cracked Starbuck in the face.
That was awesome shit.
Yeah... but i hope season 2 will be on air after the season finale.Quote:

I've seen a couple of the episodes sporadically over the two seasons and liked what I saw, but havent sat down yet to watch the whole thing back to back. Need to go grab the DVD or something when I get a chance.
The next episode looks to be 'holy shit' awesome from the set-up at the end of this last one. Major space battles + betrayals in the ranks. I'm eagerly awaiting how the whole thing plays out.
The only thing I don't like about the show is some of the terminology they use: " You FRAKKIN MOTHER FRAKKER!!1". It just sounds goofy as hell when they use that word and they use it a lot. It's probably become a staple of the show to the geek-ball fans though, so I'm guessing they won't get rid of it.
I loved it, even if the Pegasus/Galactica battle was kind of a let down.
Yeah, I think we'll see a rematch of that though once the assassinations go downQuote:

Season 2 trumps Season 1 in every aspect. I thought the the, um, first episode of the 2nd part of season 2 was excellent as well.
Well, that was crazy.
Next episode looks to be more dramatic, which is always fun.
Is anyone still watching this? I just caught the Season Finale and have been keeping up with the other episodes all season, and shit this show never fails to impress.
I thought at first that this was going to end with the nuclear explosion on Cloud Nine ( for which I had no fucking clue why the cylon bitch did that----well until the last minute or two of this one), but I was wrong. And glad I was. It was pretty crazy to see everyone on New Caprica a year later ( and lol at Lee Adama being a fatty) and that ending, damn.
I'm glad Sci-Fi didnt let this show fall by the wayside. The writing, acting, special effects, and characters are all phenomenal. I cant wait until next season starts up.Between this and the heightened budgets on the other Stargate shows that come on before Galactica (which also happened to kick a lot of ass recently), Sci-Fi Channel has an unbeatable Friday night schedule.
I suggest that anyone who hasnt seen them yet set your VCR's or Tivo's up or be a good pirate, ARRRand check them out.
I'm about to d/l the episodes.
I bought Season 2 vol 1 on dvd, shit was nice.
Cool. Yeah, Season 2....part 2 or whatever is pretty good. There are a lot of really good episodes, and some real twists and turns in how the cylons act and think. I wasnt expecting to get into and like the show this much, but its really hard not to.Quote:

I Love this show. The promotional material (ugh @ DVD covers) and, hell, the fact that it was related to the old series kept me away at first. That and I have a natural aversion to 99% of TV sci-fi.

Season 3 Trailer
Except for the Nickelback song that was a great trailer. Season 3 looks like it's going to be awesome!
the new season looks really good...
at the SD comic-con the BSG panel consisted of the two writers, the producer, xena, the chief, EJO, and gaius. there was a lot of joking and finger pointing as to who was a cylon between the cast.
edward james olmos said that the darkest parts of the season 2.5 finale were going to be the brightest parts of season 3, that this was the darkest show he's ever worked on, and the writers must hate humans and love cylons...
they did show and extended trailer for season 3... i'll put in the spoilers about some of the stuff they talked about if anyone cares.
The time is near. 2 weeks 'til season 3.
I found the end of season 2 disappointing. I don't think humans would be THAT stupid to just about lay down their arms and figure the future is all rosy and shit. That being said, 14 days to go.
My wife and I just got started on 2.5, and I've gotta tell you something: This is the most important show on TV right now. The allusions to terrorism are phenomenal. It shows what a populace living in fear might act like (at least in the earlier episodes). The allegory of cylon-as-muslim is an incredibly compelling way to analyze the show through. I' m really not into the the 'war-on-terror-fear-march' the country seems to be in, but this show, makes me think about the world we live in just a little differently. Can't wait to finish this season and start the third. :)
Best show on TV. Seriously. Hell, it's the best show I've seen in years, and I would *never* have watched it if a friend hadn't forced me to watch the miniseries on DVD.
MZO, FINISH THE DVDs FOR GOD'S SAKE.
Everyone else (especially those of you that hate sci-fi shows), Netflix season 1 or something.
I didn't like the end of season 2, but I don't think it was unrealistic. It frustrated the hell out of me, because I would never make that choice. I don't want to drive this off-topic, but to me it was a liberal versus conservative thing. The liberals, like Baltar, believe that everyone is inherently good and that if we sit around a camp fire and sing songs, all the world's evils will go away. Conservatives, like Adama, know that's all bullshit.
New season starts in an hour. Pls stop talking about Lost for a second and watch this.
I watched the miniseries back in 2003 and I thought it sucked, so I didn't watch seasons 1 or 2, but after watching "the story so far", I'm sorry I missed out. I watched the season premiere this morning and I really got into it. I'm really looking forward to the next episode.
Caught the Season 3 premiere on DVR today finally.
Very good episode. This one had a lot of original 'what the hell' moments.
-Was surprised by how old, fucked up, and "Ahab-like" Saul looked. The whole experience with being the Cylon's prisoner is going to make him even more bitter and full of hate for the Cylons as we saw. Especially when he finds out one is fucking his wife. Why was she still banging the Cylon? Wasnt their little sexual favor deal over after Saul was released? (well, I guess the obvious answer is she's a whore)Then she betrayed pretty much the entire human race with what she did at the end. I hope she dies in the worst possible way this season.
- Kara as a living wife-prisoner-concubine of the crazy looking cylon. Was wondering why the hell she didnt try to get away after she 'killed' him. I think I'm going to be nauseaus seeing her pretend to be wifey and earning the cylons trust for the next couple of episodes. Hopefully, she turns the tables on that dude quick.
- I lol'ed when Odama told his son to "get his fat-ass out of here". I dont know if I quite understand what Odama was telling Lee in the hallway. Is he splitting the fleet up again? Like Lee is taking a contingent to try to find Earth while his dad stays behind to save the others on New Caprica?
- The whole New Caprica Police Force thing was crazy. I guess its not too hard to believe that some people would be sick of all the running and fighting and just say "fuck it, lets join up", but still. It wasnt exactly paradise in this place after 4 months of cylon rule. What makes them think that would change? And I dont agree with the Colonol's whole terrorist suicide bombing thing. They stirred up a bees-nest of shit doing that. They should have just laid low until Odamas fleet came back.
- And Goddamn those next episode previews for spoiling the ending execution for this one.
This season is gonna be amazing. The suicide bombing and the human police force both parallel shit that's going on in Iraq and previous wars. Tigh can't just stand idly by waiting for Adama. The suicide bombing is kinda extreme but he needs to keep the Cylons off balance. Collaborators have been a part of every occupation and is a means of control. In any case watch the webisodes to get more info on Duck (the suicide bomber) and Jammer.
Just saw this and:
1.) Sorry, humans wouldn't have been idiotic enough to think that they wouldn't be found, especially with Cylons living among them
2.) Sending "Boomer" as the most integral part of the rescue team is ludicrous, considering all that has happened.
3.) Baltar is a spineless piece of shit, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he's revealed to be a Cylon at the end of this year.
I'm finding myself wishing they were back on Galactica already. I'm not buying "the resistance" thing and think the Cylons would've just nuked them and moved along as they have nothing to gain from the occupation.
Maybe next episode.
Anyone who owns a 360 and isn't sporting the free BSG theme is a pinko.
Didn't even know they had one. <fires up 360>
Fuck. Maintenance.
This next episode is going to kick. Like some ass.
tonight's episode was awesome!
lots of predicable stuff went down... but they sure move this show along pretty fast.
Best show on TV. Shame that so few people here watch it.
Great episode.
I'm finally starting to get into the show, at first I was put off because it seemed really melodramatic. But it's very good, better than I thought. Although being a fan of the classic show I can attest to the fact they are the same in name only. But it's the second best show on TV right now, after Dr.who of course.
Dr. Who? Didn't like the old one and definitely don't like the new one.
I watched the original BS Galactica TV series again and decided the new one is markedly better. A whole lot of cheese on the old one and I don't think it's aged all that well.
Not a show for everyone, but tell me what is it that doesn't click with you?Quote:

It depends what you want, if you want light hearted camp than the classic is a great watch and considerably better than some other shows of the day (space 1999 for example). If you want a space opera than yeah the new one is better for you, I personally enjoy them both.Quote:

I know quite a lot of people could never get past the truly awful effects.
So I watched last nights episode of Galactica (or at least last nights Canadian episode). It was the first time I'd watched BG since I struggled to finish watching the first season DVD set. And while I enjoyed many of the special effects last night, the show still sucks. It was nice to see they gave the Pegasus a similar send off but all of the annoying characters are still there. Dammit Starbuck is a dude. I can't help it. Say I'm stuck in the 70s, whatever. HOW IS BALTAR NOT DEAD YET.
Sorry, don't mean to shit up the thread.
i never saw the original show, but i like starbuck as a girl.
i do wish kat would die, though. she's annoying. very annoying.
The update has many elements of awesome. All (except the special effects) which have been lifted from the old show. The ship, the vipers, the main characters. The enemy. The inclusion of Cylons looking for god is not very interesting, and is just an excuse for the writers to talk about fundamentalists in the real world.
And Baltar wasn't in command of the Cylons, just like Vader wasn't in command of the Empire. He's just portrayed for most of the show as the leader.
Anyway, I'm not going to belittle the show any more than I have, because its just my opinion anyway. Alot more people feel the way you do than the way I do, so if you can accept that there are people out there who find the show to be less than enjoyable I'll accept that there are people who think it deserves all the praise it has recieved.
That's why it's called "Battlestar Galactica"
Same difference, I'm not going to argue semantics. Baltar will turn out to be a cylon IMHO, anyway.
Well, it's incomparable in many, many ways to the original. However, the original spawned very little "attachment" to the characters and I believe that this series successfully makes you give a shit about what's going on. I could care less about Moffit (or whatever his name was) and Jayne Seymour's kid in the original series. This incarnation is far more adult, far more engaging, and far more realistic. Nostalgia should be tossed aside.
I don't love the old series as much as I might have sounded. I wanted a remake. I just didn't want it to be this remake. Yes the robot dog and the kid and all the cheesiness sucked, and most of the show was the same clip of the ship getting attacked. I don't really care. Adama, Apollo, Starbuck and hell, even Cain are what made that show fun to watch. Its far outdated and difficult to watch any but the best episodes of the show now, but when they got it right they really did make some enjoyable episodes. All I've seen from the new series is dark dark dark. A show needs some lighter moments. Not stupid robot dogs, but a joke or something every now and then is not such a bad thing.
Life is serious. Especially when you're running from a bunch of one-minded robots. I like dark.
I've been in need of a blockbuster space opera ever since TNG and B5 ended (still haven't gotten around to Firefly). Everything I read and hear indicates this is sci fi with a tight arc/good plot progression. Lost's outrageously slow pace is starting to annoy me so I think I will rent Galactica's first season sometime soon.
Firefly + Serenity is small, finished, and enjoyable. Just get that out of the way first, you'll need something like BG to help you get over the fact that you'll never watch another episode of Firefly.
I disagree. If you want comedy, watch a comedy. How happy would you be if you were one of less than 50,000 survivors of the entire human race with no place to go, food shortages, water shortages, and you haven't set foot on land in who knows how long? It should be dark, desperate, and real. Which it is.
And some dark humor would fit it perfectly, if it doesn't have any it runs the risk of becoming melodramatic. And it has most certainly toed that line in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong it is a very good show, and if you want to be "real" about it, In real life nobody can stand being under pressure constantly. Without having something to brighten a dreary situation it's possible for someone to just breakdown. You can't tell me no one makes wry or dark jokes when under stress.
Ya,theres something called gallows humor for just such occasions.
they throw humor in there every once in a while. the time when starbuck walks in on baltar with his pants down. the president making a joke about wanting a new body, one of those young cylon models, and adama says he can't see her as a blonde. and then there's tom when he asks if she tried to rig the election, and he says he wishes she'd gone through with it.
i know that's a short list, but that's just off the top of my head, and i'm just trying to point out that there is humor in the show. and it stands out because it's so rare. it really contrasts against the normal darkness of the show.
I'm not looking for a laugh riot, but when everything is so dark all the time it just comes off as corny and melodramatic, you need to have a balance.
Seeing complaints about a lack of humor in this show is enough "funny" for me today..
Well, anyway, enough of the humor horseshit.
The latest episode wasn't as good as the previous, however, it's no shock that the angle of "Baltar may be a Cylon" is being presented. I can certainly see how a kangaroo court could've been appointed to try those accused of war crimes. Interesting episode and interesting ending.
Yeah, Firefly is missed.
firefly is a great show. i'm sad that there won't be any new episodes :*( i'd love to see where joss would've taken the show.
I feel about the same way. Not so much about it not being funny, but that it is always so tense. War isn't like that, not even hopeless war. People under that kind of stress denigh it, ignore it, and joke. People get burned out and go nutbars if they continue to be super stressed out. Just watch shows like Band of Brothers, or any other good war movie. People joke and try to be light hearted to stay sane
No episode this week, though the preview for it leaves me kind of luke warm.
I know, I guess they needed to baby that special FX budget a little bit and this was the episode for it? That and, I guess its a bit of an easy, sweeping way to mend the rift that formed between some of the characters following the exodus. Just have them duke it out and laugh about it...
After tonight, all I can say is that Starbuck is a complete and uttterly vapid bitch. What a great character, though.
Christ, what a good episode. Barely any effects shots, too.
STOP IGNORING THIS SHOW, TNL.
I liked the Admirals message he gave to all those watching his fight. I wasnt expecting him to bust out with some good wisdom like that.
Man, she really is. I enjoyed watching Odama Jr. kick her ass. And when she started to cheat by kicking and sweeping the leg in a boxing match, I wanted him to utterly curb stomp her.Quote:

Yeah, it wasn't that hot.
Second-string character death out of nowhere, ftl.
I liked it, it was one of the better episodes of the season.
