I think you forget that the people who make video games are in it to make money. Making an exclusive game for an innovative system that a small market share owns means less money than popping out a game on a dreary, same ol' PS3 that many, many more people will own.Quote:

He's right...a bit. Good software DOES eventually mean hardware sales, if it is marketed and publicized properly. Nintendo has quite a stigma it needs to rid itself of to have its good games win over new buyers, however. It would also have to appeal to the mature gamers and have some type of internet play to seriously compete against the PS3/Xbox. Mario, it's obvious, is not going to save it. Nor do I WANT Mario to save it.
It's going to have to reverse the process that began with the N64...it's going to need awesome hardware, internet capability, and most importantly, awesome third-party support the likes of which we haven't seen since the SNES if they're going to win back a significant market share.
They could likely survive on connectivity money and pokemon-like gimmicks, but that's not the way to smashing success, and it's a poor business model.
They're capable, but it would be a long, hard journey to get back to where they were, and frankly I don't think they have leadership capable of bringing them down that road. Teh Sad Panda is me.
Basically, shit like this has to stop, and shit like this needs to continue, along with great third party support. They need to scrub their "Anti-M rated" sand out of their vaginas and strive to make money so they can support their personal agendas/company image, as much as it pains me to say that.
Exactly. Fans will buy the console, while casual gamers go elsewhere... therefore, the mainstream appeal keeps getting smaller and smaller. If nothing is done to gain mainstream appeal, they spend the rest of their days catering exclusively to that shrinking niche until they just collapse. Nintendo secured a deal with Gyration a while back. That's the most evidence anyone has to what this new controller could be like. I don't have a source because I read this like a month ago.
Whatever it is, it will suck balls and be very gimmicky. Anyone that doesn't believe that this new system will be one giant gimmick like everything else they've done lately deserves to buy it and grow to hate it.
All I know is the graphics will be sweet. They're working with ATI) and it will go online( Shigero Pretty much confirmed it. Also the homeland MMO has a unique online plan that is free) Thats all I need.
How do you know gimmicks suck. I love my DS and GBA( which back in the days was considered a gimmick) also the rumble paks and other stuff nintendo gimmickly made are all pretty much norm now. Except the VB. Connectivity will be used for the PSP so that gimmick is becoming norm)
