Twisted Metal: Head-On

GameSpot.com got a hands-on demo of the new Twisted Metal game for the PSP - Twisted Metal: Head-On. The game looks amazing, and will allow up to 8 players to compete wireless on up to 16 different environments. I can't fucking wait!!!

I can get behind a game like this.

Do people still play TM online? It's free with the GH version of TM: Black

My only complaint would be the gaudy menu in the lower right hand corner. Otherwise thumbs up.

Alot of the cars look VERY toned down so far. Detailed, but toned down. almost like regular cars with guns attached and stuff.

And the menu is usually changable in twisted metal games, i dont recall a single one where you couldnt switch it to something else

Well I think this hints that PSP is not a PS2 equivalent. Those are some very flat visuals, and flat looking levels.

I loved Twisted Metal back in PSone days, but the PStwo game was only good for single player. They need to figure out a game design that doesn't rely on homing weapons and pick-ups.

I haven't played TM Black, but I heard it's nowhere near as good as TM2. I remember having alot of fun playing 2 player on that game.

Black is too fast for its own good, and the levels are wayyy too wide-open. Matches are spent jousting across open planes, which gets old really fast. And even though it has a four player splitscreen, the camera sucks monster balls when the screen is split like that--it's not fun at all. Twisted Metal III is still my favorite Twisted Metal game, followed closely by Twisted Metal 2. However, I wouldn't buy a remake of either--they both have design flaws that need to be rectified, not expanded upon.
