With Mario showing up seemingly everywhere lately I figured it might be interesting to take a look at some of the past side jobs of our pixeled proletarian. This thread is devoted to Mario occupations other than the usual plumber/carpenter SMB/DK series ones. I didn't include sports/racing related stuff either.
Mario - The Factory Worker
Mario's Cement Factory was a Game & Watch game released in 1983. This screen is from the more advanced table top version. This is probably my favorite G&W game. You have to operate various levers and make sure nothing overflows and lands on your Luigi-esque co-workers' heads.

Mario's Cement Factory also appeared in Game & Watch Gallery 4 for GBA.
Thundersoft released a Commodore 64 game in 1987 called Mario Bros II. I had a copied version back then but I still haven't been able to trace the origin of this game. As far as I can tell it is not licensed by Nintendo. I have never heard of Nintendo suing over the game either so I don't even know whether this game was sold in stores or a homebrew. The game kind of sucked anyway.

Wrecking Crew was originally released for the NES in 1985. recently it was re-released for GBA.

Wrecking Crew '98 was one of Nintendo's last Super Famicom games. By the name you would think it was a remake but it's actually quite a bit different than the original as you compete against another wrecker on the opposite side of the screen in a more puzzle-ish fashion.

Mario - The Artist
Mario Paint for the SNES was a kid-friendly paint program with music and other minigames. It didn't really involve Mario doing much as a painter(he's just kind of thrown on there to sell it I guess and technically you control his hand) but it goes with the theme of the thread. The same applies to the other artist Mario games.

The Mario Artist series was sort of the 64-bit follow up to Mario Paint, except unlike Mario Paint none of the games/programs left Japan. The first was Mario Artist: Paint Studio, released in for the Nintendo 64 64DD add on in 1999 and the rest came out in 2000. This program also allowed you to import pictures from a video camera.

Mario Artist: Talent Studio and Mario Artist: Polygon Studio allowed you to create 3d characters.

Mario Artist: Communication Kit
This program allowed you to exchange data online using the Randnet modem service. Your custom created character could communicate with others in a virtual community.
Mario The Juggler was a Game & Watch game from 1991. I don't know if juggling counts as an occupation but I figured I would include it as it's one of the most obscure Mario games. It's also significant as it marked the end of an era; it was the last Game & Watch game produced. It was a remake of Ball, the first G&W game.

Mario - The Professor
Mario Teaches Typing was a kids typing tutor series for PC and Mac in the early 1990s. The games were licensed by Nintendo but made by Interplay.

There were other Mario edutainment games as well but I don't think Mario was depicted as a teacher in those.

Originally released for the NES and Game Boy in 1990 and later for SNES and N64, Dr. Mario was one of Nintendo's most popular puzzle games.
