Guillermo Del Toro

Blade 2 and Hellboy showed me that the man has some skills. I saw Mimic years ago and don't recall it being that great, but from what I've heard there was massive studio meddling on that one and he didn't get to make the movie he wanted.

His DVD commentary tracks are very entertaining as well, as he displays a lot of passion and imagination. He's funny, too.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had seen Cronos or The Devil's Backbone, and could tell me if they were any good.

devils backbone is pretty cool, pretty much its about a boys ghost that helps save another boy, i would definitely give it a viewing, its not really scary or a horror movie but just a good story.

i wanted to pick up cronos but never brought myself to get the copy at best buy and then it got sold. im to lazy to find it on the internet as it wasnt a high priority to watch it

Cronos is great too. Del Toro is a damn fine film maker.

Dolemite, both are great movies.

Chronos is an interesting take on vampire genre, and has Ron Perlman as a main baddie. Devil's Backbone is a ghost story, set in the time of war. Both films have great atmosphere.

Good summary of Devils Backbone. Doubt I'd watch it again though.

Okay, next question- who's the fattter, slobbier director? Guillermo Del Toro or Peter Jackson? Or can you even tell them apart?

It's close, but I think Jackson gets the nod.
