Apparantly it can solve differentials equations, and you can download apps that give it way more functionality than even that page describes. It's a great thing for people already in their respective fields that have learned all this stuff already (the correct way), but most college students would use these things as crutches more than as an aid.
But as with all things in life, there is a happy medium.
Note cards and hand-written cheat sheets for things that are tedious to memorize are not uncommon. Just sayin'...Quote:

Itd be incredibly useful if I ever got a job where I needed to use math (which I dont plan on doing).
When did you change majors?Quote:

Get ready to hate life then because if you're in Calc 2 your going to need to pull up some of that OG Trig knowledge for sure.Quote:

The teacher who I had honestly wasnt bad which is probably why I held on so long. But by the time we hit Infinite Series, I felt my grasp on the material slip away so I dropped (first class, I've EVER dropped BTW). rather than stay and let my GPA take a hit.
I was way to optimistic as I hadnt had ANY math in like 5+ years ( thank you Air Force) so I probably shouldve started off slow. Well, come to find out now, the Calc I that I took in my pre-AF days doesnt count toward my degree anymore (theye've changed and added some stuff to it or something) so I HAVE to take it over again. Which honestly I needed to anyway, and actually I swallowed my pride and took one more step back into Pre-Calc (skipped it and went straight from Trig to Calc my first time through school).
But anyway ,Yeah, glad to see I'm not the only one struggling through math- Ill probably take Calc I AGAIN in the summer and Calc 2 AGAIN in the fall, so I may use this thread some from time to time too.I know diff x has the actuary experience and a whole lot of you guys know your shit when it comes to math so us math noobs can hopefully keep getting some kind lovin....
But, yeah it would behoove you guys to retake Trig if you are weak in that area - I'm currently considering it....but, I'd have to quit work so......decisions,decisions....
Yeah, calc 2 can also be called, "everything I learned in trig and more."
Ive taken classes in the following:Quote:

Fairly odd for a math degree, really, with a bigger emphasis on applied maths than most. But hey, I picked the classes. And there's still a shitload I dont know, but I guess you could say that about any field you get a bachelor's in.
Yeah, I know. This isn't the first time I've taken calc 2 (5 hour). The first time I got a D becuase I was a lazy little bitch D=Quote:
