Hi folks, Harry here, and I'm about to fucking DIE from excitement. Huge reports out of the latest Spiderman 3 test screenings (that only showed the first half of the movie, not the complete finished film) confirms the recent rumors reported yesterday- Rami is indeed recapping Secret Wars in the opening 23 minutes of the movie. Sound insane? Yes, but I am chomping at the bit to see this classic Marvel storyline come to life.
Our boy Quint was on hand at the screening and has revealed that The Beyonder (voice of James Earl Jones!!) does indeed kidnap a number of well-known Marvel Heroes and Bad Guys and transplants them from Earth to Battleworld, where they have to fight for their heart's desire. There was some confusion on Quint's part when watching the movie, as the rights to some of the characters present in Spidey 3 are currently owned by studios other than Sony, but we have to assume that some kind of temporary deal was worked out to license them. Confirmed Marvel characters:
Spiderman (duh)
The Fantastic Four (cameos by the actual cast of the FF movie, including Jessica Alba and Michael Chiklis)
Several X-Men- Hugh Jackman has a cameo as Wolverine. Storm is in, but played by an unknown. Colossus is in (Daniel Cudmore reprising), and they even touch on his relationship with the alien healer from the comics.
CG Hulk is there, and supposedly he even talks (Hulk smash!). Voice actor unknown.
Thor (played by Ralf Moller of Galdiator fame, good choice).
Captain America (played by…Bruce Campbell?!?!?!?!? WTF!!!!!).
Iron Man (cameo by Robert Downey Jr to tie in with the upcoming movie).
Dr. Doom (Julian McMahon reprising, wearing armor much more like the comic incarnation).
The Wrecking Crew (all 4 are unknowns).
Dr. Octopus (Alfred Molina in a cameo).
Ultron (CG).
The Enchantress (unknown, but she's really hot).
Galactus (CG).
Well, this seems to explain the rumored $260 million budget! I'm about to pass out. Nothing even remotely this cool has ever been attempted by a superhero movie before. The sheer amount of Marvel characters is blowing my mind. More as this develops.
