May 9, 2007?! You'd think that they would have finished it a little faster than that...
B'oh. I was hoping for only a 2-year wait, like from Spidey 1 to 2.
No point in rushing and making a turd.Quote:

You'd think so, if you were a dim witted teenager with no concept of the work involved with such a huge movie. Not everyone has their schedules free, and I'm sure Kirstin Dunst and Toby McGuire both have hefty schedules, not to even bring into the fold Raimi and his assistants, etc. I agree that it would be nice to have the movie a little sooner, but the Spiderman movies are great, so I can wait.Quote:

kristen Dunst too. That tennis movies she was in also sucked and they should both acting like prima donnas and get these movie finished.
At least we got Batman Begins, fantastic Four and X-Men 3 to look forward to. ( they have better put Gambit in there now.)
Toby just answered why Spidey 3 is going to take so long. Theres a glut of probably bad superhero movies a comin, so why derail the money train by rushing spidey 3 and killing the franchise?
UGH. Please not the Hobgoblin. If he is gonna be in it, at least pair him up with someone like Venom. And I don't care if they have to transform Jameson's astronaught son to do it. That said though, I've read several interviews in the past months where Raimi (when asked if the villian will be Hobgoblin) keeps saying "I don't know yet if Harry will be a villian. I'm trying to figure out exactly how he feels about the death of his father and what direction he really wants to go in." (not verbatim) So it's good Raimi is exploring this as carefully as possible, I just don't want the next villian to look like a non-effective power ranger baddie (the only problem I had with the first movie which i otherwise loved) In any case, Alfred Molina's Doc Ock will be really hard to top. Best written sci fi villian since ESB Vader IMHO.
You promise? If you're wrong you should have to suck off Willem Dafoe.Quote:

And even with the huge monster count, they are all beaten within seconds (except uber-Gigan and Monster X/Kaiser Ghidorah). There's more Matrix-style fighting with mutants and humans than monster fighting.
Bleh.
Like I said, I still want to see it, though.
Hah, that logo. That could have been easily made with photoshopping but I like the way it's done.
Yeah 2007 is a long way off. I'm thinking Rami, like most directors will do other projects but continue developing Spiderman 3 with other people, they even made a deal with a script polisher Alvin Sargent to do the 3rd and 4th script writing here's the news from Superherohype:
It seems like he's having a real hard time closing out his run if it ends with 3, just looking at some options he could either have John Jameson as Venom(which I wouldn't disagree with but I'd like Eddie as Venom), Harry as the Goblin and have Peter and Mary Jane move in together and continue they're new more open relationship and probably get married in the end(but I wouldn't do it).Quote:
Sony Pictures has made a seven-figure deal for Alvin Sargent to write Spider-Man 3, with an option to write the fourth movie as well, reports Variety. He has already begun work on the third film, which has a tentative release date of May 4, 2007.
The trade says Sargent is widely credited with whipping a problematic Spider-Man 2 script into shape, but he has evolved into the voice of the franchise.
Sargent got sole screen credit on the sequel but also did uncredited rewrite work on the first film, which was penned by David Koepp.
Sargent was brought on to polish the original film by his wife, Laura Ziskin, who produces the "Spider-Man" films with Marvel's Avi Arad. Koepp took a crack at writing the first draft of the sequel, followed by Smallville creators and scripting team Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and then author Michael Chabon. Sargent then was brought back and wound up with sole script credit.
The studio has not yet disclosed the storyline or villain for Spider-Man 3, but the story has already been crafted by Sargent along with director Sam Raimi and his brother, Ivan Raimi.
I'd personally have Venom and and Harry Osborn as villains with Harry being either Green Goblin or Hobgoblin.
I'd also put Peter in that awesome black symbiote costume for a small portion and act it out like the comics where he realizes the costume turns him into a more savage version of himself and rejects it. The real problem as you all know, is the Venom symbiote origin but I'm sure it can be done well without having to go into space.
For Venom's look it should be really cool, I'd have his head look smoothed out and soft looking like the Aliens in the Alien movies with the drool and everything and the eyes/tongue being a mix of special effects and practical stuff. The rest of the costume I'd make a textured suit looking not too far off from that Spawn movie outfit with the trademark white spider.
I just hope Spiderman 3 turns out great and has some really good villains. So far X-Men has sort of the same problem but it'll really depend on who's directing the 3rd to see how to predict. I'd rather they wait out for Bryan Singer to finish Superman but Marvel wants to move along. Blade as a trilogy dropped the ball with the last one but it's solid.
I noticed that if you look at both Spiderman and Superman movies they have some similarities like Superman/Spiderman losing their powers in the second, Spiderman doing the Superman thing with opening his shirts to reveal the spider and the outfit, Spiderman and Superman both holding up heavy vehicles like the helicopter/cable car....small stuff like that.
Anyway a strong Spiderman trilogy makes the franchise stronger and helps comic movies stay at a higher standard alongside the other great works especially with The Incredibles now being a very tough one to beat.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Lizard as a villain in the next one.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0048414/
That guy played Connors in 2. That's who the Liz is. Venom will probably get his own movie.
Eddie Brock was in the first Spidey movie.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0263472/
That's interesting. I didn't see him in the film at all so he probably did some scenes that were cut and not used in the original film. I wish they had, he could pass for Eddie very well.Quote:

The Villians I'm thinking based on what I've seen in the movie:
1. Hob-Goblin/Green Goblin as Harry Osborn, we see Harry becoming crazy after the unmasking. He sees his dead father and he hears sounds that aren't there. Harry will snap and become the new Goblin, since the green Goblin was used they might have Harry be the Hob-Goblin or might not change a good thing and let him be the Green Goblin.
2. The Lizard: Its seems like it could happen. We see conners in the 2nd installment and he is mentioned in the 1st installment of the Spiderman movies. And since Peter has respect and knows him, that could create the same feeling as the 2nd installment.
3. If they going to create/introduce a new villian that has not been seen prior to the 1st and 2nd movie it has to be Venom. Venom to me is the the best Villian for Spiderman behind GG. In fact I think he's better than Doc Oct.

I like both the Honda and "Heisei" Godzilla movies pretty equaly so I'm not worried (myself). I just don't want the fights to be as uneven as they were in GMK (where the big guy basically just had to hit his opponent once to kill them and Ghidorah's fusion with Mothra added almost no punch to the finale, he still died just as easy)

Nothing's confirmed, but the fact that Rami talked about him, and acknowledged that the fans want him in the flick, is promising.

In an interview with The New York Daily News, actress Chloe Sevigny revealed ""I'd love to be in 'Spider-Man 3. There's a villain in it who's a blond, buxom girl, and I'm trying to get it". The general though is that this is the character 'Black Cat'.
Well, thats one villian down, and I guess the other has to be the Goblin. So much for Venom or Kraven.
Not that I'd be adverse to seeing a buxom blonde villian, but still...
I sincerely hope she doesn't get it. She doesn't have the right look or body for Black Cat.
Black Cat has blonde hair? I thought she had black hair (not that I ever really saw much of her anyway and I don't think I've ever seen her outside of her costume).
Anyway, instead of Black Cat I think the villian is a spurned Vicky Vale.
White hair.Quote:

Thomas Haden Church, who was nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actor in "Sideways," has been cast as Spidey's new archenemy in the next chapter of the "Spider-Man" franchise reports Reuters.
Director Sam Raimi made the announcement Monday along with producers Laura Ziskin and Marvel Studios' Avi Arad. Who that villain is exactly remains a close secret for now.
"In addition to the ongoing relationship between Peter Parker and M.J., these films are driven by the great actors who have brought our villains to life," Raimi said to the press. "Thomas Haden Church will be a fantastic and challenging new nemesis, and we all look forward to working with him."

That actor looks more like Carnage. I wasn't aware any supervillain named Manwolf existed.
Raimi has already said that he doesn't mind Venom, but he's picks the right villain for the story, and his approach has provided us with two really strong Spiderman movies so far.Quote:

Let's hope what Chloe Sveigny said wasn't true. Not just since she doesn't have the right build, but IMHO most female villians are very uninteresting no matter who plays them.
The badguy should be Aunt May. Total swerve...... like have it be Venom but Venom never shows it's real face then at the end of the movie, the symbiote leaves for Vegas and Aunt May is revealed as the person underneath.
Then Spider-man kills her with a pumpkin and mails her old lady wig to the british colonies.
Allllright :tu: - not too sure of their choice in actors. I mean Haden Church is just goofy, even in any serious role he's in he comes off as a big goof.Quote:

Well, Raimi keeps saying he will "choose the villian that fits the story." So maybe in this sense Raimi thinks for now Venom is too dark of a villian to reflect Peter and Mary Jane's budding romance/upcoming marriage? So I could see his reasoning there.
But again, I dunno but it just seems female villians always lighten the atmosphere of whatever movie they're in. So I hope there isn't one. I don't want to see some stupid subplot of Blackcat being spurned by Peter and then later she teams up with Sandman, Mary Jane gets kidnapped again because Blackcat is jealous...bleh.
Me and a friend joked a lot before seeing Spidey 2 about the reeeeaally old storyline where Doc Ock romanced Aunt May to try and get a nuclear reactor from her (?). We were laughing about that in the lobby (after reading about it on a "spidey facts" thing in USA Today). So then we go in and see the movie and the parts where Ock snags Aunt May then later we see him with the fusion reactor, we were saracastically joking each time saying "Oh wow! The 'nuclear reactor storyline is coming together!!!! Raimi is staying true to old school roots!" haha Guess ya had to be there. :p So maybe a Venom and Aunt May romance?Quote:

I'd watch it.
AICN rumor has it that he just might be playing Sandman since supposedly Sandman sketch concepts were seen about.
I'm a bit disappointed to hear this but hopefully Sam will make Sandman a cooler villain with better representation and personality than the comics. I'm also hoping that he closes out with the whole Goblin thing so 2 possible villains isn't out of the question since I don't know how the movie can bank on Sandman alone.
If not Venom, then I'd want Mysterio.
I still say Shocker should have a cameo.
He'd be easy to sneak in there, too. Just have Spiderman arrest him in the beginning as a reintroduction.
Exactly what I was thinking. Shocky could be robbing a bank and get busted by Spiderman in the opening credits or something.
And have him have to run off out of the store because of this incident, missing something super important to their relationship (or maybe they can be shopping for wedding dresses).Quote:

"I like to keep my private stuff pretty vague," said Church, who owns up to being single, having a girlfriend and having a daughter, whose name he won't divulge. He will say he owns a home in Dallas that he's leased out, and he prefers beer to wine.
Which beer? He won't say, only that "given my physical training for Spider-Man, they only want me to drink light beer."
Church has been in Los Angeles lately for wardrobe fittings and "being in the mud all day. They did plaster casts of my body for prosthetics. They also wanted to cut my hair to get an idea for (computer) animators (to determine) what my look will be."
He's also mum on whom he'll play when director Sam Raimi starts shooting near year's end. Rumors swirl that Church will be Venom, a classic villain from Spidey comics, or perhaps a new baddie.
He's been training at a gym in Kerrville, and he may make two more movies before Spider-Man 3 starts to roll. He also just did voice work for an animated Charlotte's Web with Julia Roberts and Jennifer Garner. But Spider-Man 3 is "my biggest commitment so far in budgetary terms. It's pretty huge."
Though the intimate, offbeat Sideways is the opposite of an action film, Church said its writer-director, Alexander Payne, told him his favorite film of last year was Spider-Man 2. Church feels Alfred Molina, who played villain Doc Ock, was robbed of an Oscar nod.
Church got emotional after winning a Broadcast Film Critics award in January. He partially credits that speech for landing him Spider-Man 3.
The film's producer and the head of Marvel Studios were in attendance. "(They) told me I was perfect for the character, given that speech," he said."
So it's still a toss up. Could be Venom or could be Sandman....I'm still hoping Venom but it'll probably be Sandman. Should be a good movie either way.
Well, the article says he's been hitting the gym...why would he need to do that if he's Sandman? Sandman was just a normal guy. Eddy Brock was a big-time weightlifter. Rami seems to keep the same body types for the bad guys from the comics, as shown by the casting of Alfred Molina, the fat guy that played Doc Ock.
Eh, it's just wishful thinking, though. :(
Hmm...perhaps a transcript of that speech would lend some insight into who he'll be playing. Here's an excerpt I found:Quote:

"We'd like to thank the Broadcast Film Critics for presenting us with this award. But it's not like you had a choice- denying us this award would have robbed us of our precious innocence, and we'd have had no choice but to track you all down, eat your brains, and suck the marrow from your tiniest bones! We love you mom, thanks everybody!"
