Assault on Precinct 13: the Remake

So like I said, a matinee crowd of older black folk totally rocked this movie yesterday morning. I was misty eyed the whole way through. Truly one of the greater movie viewing experiences ever.

So how does it stack up to the original? Well, it's a lot more violent. 5-8 headshots, 3 sharp object head impalements, dogs getting punched in the face, people getting set on fire, people getting shot in the gut cars flipping busses exploding. Lots and lots of "movies for guys who like movies" type shit.

Ethan Hawke rocked, Morpheus rocked, Leguizamo rocked, motherfucking Brian Denehey rocked. There were two hot bitches in it too whose names I didn't remember (and whose titties we didn't see either :( ) but they rocked as well.

Oh, Ja Rule was in it along with some dyke black chick who had one cool scene. They're basically "red shirts" so.......

I don't want to spoil anything else so I'll just say that I gave the movie a thumbs up. It's not going to be a memorable as the first one (no potatoes or operation HAUL ASS). Morpheus plays a good badass but not as good as the original Napoleon. Napoleon is supposed to be another Jack Burton/Plissken type guy but Morpheus plays more of a "too cool, my shit don't stink" kind of guy. Oh well.

So anyway, head to the "bad" part of town and check out Assault on Precinct 13. It fucking rocks.

You know how sometimes when you're watching action movies you'd say, "Man, I wish they'd just shoot the guy in the head." Well, they do in this movie.

Oh yeah, by the way, this movie is loud as hell. Bring your earplugs.

A lost art form!

Damn, I wanted to open the thread for this, but was busy this week.

I am big fan of the original film, and definately going to see this. Was planning to go today, but because of this friggin snow, got stuck at home.

Saw it today, and its pretty much what Revoltor said. Very cool action movie, with alot of good old violence. Both Hawke and FIshburne were great.

They made original proud, and me happy. I will speak in more details later.

sounds good. im wanting to see this and coach carter (the gf wants to see it). i watched saw again in anticipation of the february 15th dvd release and took my gf and her friends to see it. they came away amazed. now if only the dollar theatre would show blade 3 more than one time a day :(

I saw it last week and thought it was pretty cool too. Ethan Hawke always seems to be a treat and it was nice too see Fishburne back to his 1st matrix level of coolness.

Errgh. Opened at #6 this weekend with only 7.02 million. Budget was 30 mil.
