Thanks anyways JB, however I truly appreciate the recommendation and your personal vote confidence, I am way ahead of you; review included. It's an old thread that you've likely overlooked. :nod:Quote:

I just picked up the SF15th Anniversary stick from EB Games today, I love it. Now if only my SF skills weren't so god damn rusty. The fact that I have not played SF3:TS in a few years should make things interesting. Oh well.
Do you have an XBL acct? If so, we can go a few rounds in TS when you get the game.Quote:

Sure do (points to XBL gamertag). And I would love to get some pointers. I have not actually played against someone really experienced thanks to the shitty arcade area around here.Quote:

I don't have live anymore... but the Xbox and RGB monitor is coming on the tour. Street Fighter will be played in the van... be there!
Does the game make up for that arcade cab you sold off?
Btw, who has it now?
Shine Aqua and he still hasn't payed for it.
can anyone answer DHG question? I'd like to know too
Well this point has been asked and answered several times already. It's just a port man of the PS2 edition, there are no distinctions. Not sure what you're looking for in terms of arcade quirks and shit -- Thrid Strike for example has been reported to allow players to easily pull off kara-cancelling with ease -- but on Xbox Live, you have to pull off the moves immediately. Parries take some adjustment too, because of lag.Quote:

Can't really comment on the logistics of what's different from "Hyper" compared to the arcade iteration. Hopefully Masaka or Destin can offer some thoughts. In the end, (that is if you're playing online), you'll be more concerned about just having a solid connection and consistent competition to play.
See you folks in several hours.
Picking it up in the morning, got a new headset tonight, it'll be on.
It only did 640x480 progressive on dreamcast with a VGA box. CvS2 for xbox didn't support 480p.Quote:

Well, I too am not trying to be offensive -- but perhaps you should try reading the previous page, and you'd find that I already brought up such points and the source. ;)Quote:

Well -- worse in the sense that you can't tell exactly how many are on during any given time, unless you use that crappy "filter" feature which is supposed to (in theory) make finding matches -- easier. Quick Match option is pointless, since it almost NEVER finds you an available opponent on the fly, unlike most XBL titles. Just curious -- how many players have you seen actively on. Since the time I've owned the game -- the most I've ever seen in 4 to 5.Quote:

Picked it up and went online right away. Thanks bahn for beating me twice. :d
Hmm maybe I should warm up to the game before I jump online and play it for the 1st time in a decade. :D
I got it. Anyone that wants to play against my crossover Ken hit me up.
Tojo, send me an invite. GT: definit.
Evil Mog: Looking forward to our next matchup and expect to get beat down
Chux: Wsup??????? where you at?
(going back online now)
I got it. Traded in the PS2 version. My 2nd purchase this year =D
Who wants some?
Your mother does, be back in a bit to beat you.
Bahn, are you using the JPN version online vs. these guys?
Me D:Quote:

So, I was going to buy this game today, but I held off for now. One, I don't have a decent controller for xbox (I'd probably get one of those fighter pads when released), and two, I haven't heard yet how the lobbies are compared to DOAU.
I don't know if I could stand to go back to the bare-bone do-nothing lobbies of CvS2 after playing so much DOA.
Just got home with it, have yet to play it. But will be in a matter of minutes! Woo-Ha! Bahn, i'll be sending you a friend invite, muthafucka!
Picked it up today!
XBL Tag: Hacksaw Duggan
Send me a friend invite if I haven't sent one to you yet.
I picked one up this afternoon. So far, I'm not liking the conversion.
Things seem to be a bit...off. I dunno.
Its the same damn lobbies of CvsS2. Guh.
And yeah when I was playing for a while this evening, there would at max be 3 people waiting for games. Why can't there just be a list of those people so I can just select them, rather than wait for it to randomly select one of them for me?
Also I played probably 6 different people, not one was talking. I wanted to ask some questions of the other player. But nope, silence.
Disappointing. I've waited a long time for a version of SFIII, and waited on the PS2 version expecting this...but I have to almost, on principle, not buy this for such a sorry effort put into the online interface.
I still need this game, so I guess this is the verion to get...but it's a bitter pill to swallow.
Yeah, I waited and waited - ignoring the PS2 version because I knew the Xbox version would have online play and that Capcom would *have* to make the online part better than what they did with CVS 2/SVC:Chaos due to all the flack they've gotten.
What we ended up with was the same matchmaking and lag issues that plagued the other two games. HIGHLY disappointing. I'm thinking about trading it in towards Y's tomorrow.
BTW - What's the trick to getting the movie to play?
Is my version messed up or something because I don't have a friends or players option on the main lobby?
I hope it's just mine or something, it felt like something was missing.
Press Start. That brings up those options.
As for the movie... it's under gallery in SF2
If you press start you can access your Friends and Players. Its weird.
How do I send an invite to someone playing it thats not in the Live area. Like they are playing single player, and I can see they are on. I select the name and it just gives me the option to remove them, turn voice on, and ranking. I am guessing they have to be in the Live are though.
And the Lag does not seem all that bad to me, then again I am not a seasoned pro and am not trying super technical stuff, like parrying a super or something.
But once you get playing with someone its quite fun. Just played like 13 matches with this guy in Hyper, he actually had a communicator in. And it was great fun. I don't think anyone was expecting it to play like offline, online. But its still really freaking fun.
Yeah...but I don't really look at it as the "japanese version" since it automatically converts according to the native language of the system...so I may as well be playing the domestic one. It doesn't affect playability in any way.Quote:

The system is sort of wierd because if it says 5 players awaiting matches -- sometimes you'll get all 5 listed, and sometimes you won't. My guess is that they end up getting a match or something, or just sign off completely. Don't use "Quick Match" because it will NEVER connect you with anyone. Either create your own game or just use the "filter" in Opti-match. Man, Capcom could've made that system SO much better...it's really outdated compared to other XBL lobbies.Quote:

It also helps a great deal if you're playing on Speed 3...Speed 2 is just crappy and seems more lag friendly (if that makes any sense) :pQuote:

While I know this is your opinion -- your credit of this compilation package is greatly understated. If anything, the more dedicated players will continue to play it for shits and giggles...while those were originally came from other franchises like DOA, MK and such are likely to be the first to go. CVS2 even now still gets some considerable traffic. Ultimately, games like SF Anniversary Collection (or any online fighting game for that matter will remain a viable option) since they offers players a broader range of competition that would be accessible to them unless it were at a highly frequented arcade or a major tournament event.Quote:

These are just a few minor quibbles that I, like many have expressed. I am really hoping if Alpha Collection shows up, Capcom puts a little bit more TLC in the project for its dedicated fanbase.
Johnpv, I have two trials, one for Halo 2 and one from an Xbox Live gamers mag. You're welcome to one of them, although voltz asked for one first in the haul thread.
I'm waiting 'til the crappy best buys in the area finally get their shipment in. It was supposed to arrive today, but I went there at lunch and they said that it hadn't arrived, but it'll arrive tonight or capcom gets a fine. I'll check back later tonight and hopefully be on either tonight or tomorrow...

and those reasons are some of the reasons why the novelty will die off for me, There's plenty of competition out there on kawaks and once the DC emulators get better itll be there for SFIII as well, plus a better lobby system
I like the fact that theyre online I'm just not much of an online gamer any more, back in college I played games online all the damn time hours of Half Life and other things, now though *shrug* just isn't there
I really really really freaking wish this was online on the PS2 since everything but MMORPGS are free on it, and I wouldn't have to pay anything to once every couple of months put it in and play online (as that's really the extent of how much I play online, once every blue moon I'll feel the urge play something online for a few days and then walk away from it)
It's just how my gaming mood has been for awhile now *shrug*
Well, you wait a few more years to play SF3 online, and I'll play it tonight.
Fair enough.
I'm on right now, bitches! Bring it!
I love it. It plays online as well as CvS2 did for me, which is about 100x better than GG ever did. I've had a few laggy matches and a few lag-free ones that have been AWESOME. I want to try some of you guys, see if we have a good connection.
You add me, my name is only 3 letters long.
Mzo I'll play you now -- I hope you last longer than 3 mins.
Let's try, me and Chux just don't work, I was the fucking MAYOR of lag city.Quote:

Off to class, I'll be on later.
Good times, I forgot how much fun talking shit is.
Yo -- a quick heads up to you guys sending invites. When you create a match -- set the Player Type to "Friends Only". That way, others aside from those on your friends list can join. I've already got 2 requests (i.e. lithium) from some of you that end up cancelling out the session because you've accepted the challenge from someone else. And it's a major time waster especially if you're sending an invite to challenge on 3s when I am playing Hyper.
picked this up after work today, ill be on when i get a chance
Update: whiny fucks on XBL are declining my challenges due to the fact my record is so high (apparently they think I been playing all day since the US version came out). So I have been forced to make a secondary acct. for the time being.
So if you want to play me and you don't see me on -- send a friend request to "rekka blitz" and I'll respond if I am using that SN. :)
So, you're just gonna give in to them? Criminy.Quote:

I've always wondered if it's possible to use the mic through a second controller and still be able to talk?
Hmm, that probably explains why like 1 in 6 people actually has a mic from what I have played. I bet most people are using a converter or a stick that does not have a mic. Or they just don't like talking while playing.Quote:

If you want to get down to business, I'll use the stick but won't be able to say shit. Still, I can't even get out an EX on the pad, so there you go.
So, best buy actutally did have it last night and I found the results pretty close to my real life stats: I really suck at hyper since everything is way faster than the SF2 version 1 board I usually play and my rusty 3rd strike skills are more than enough for the few people I happen to run into. I think stat-wise my best chars are Remy and Elena...I really don't play either of them. Somebody, please give me the beat down I deserve. My parrying is a complete non-factor.
I got on last night and lucked out playing possibly the worst player in 3S history. He picked Ryu, then proceeded to do the jump kick the entire three matches we played. He threw one Hadoken, and I'm certain that it was completely by accident.
I'll be on tonight most likely, if anyone wants to put me in my place.
Played some good 3S games with Usagi, (Stormshadow on XBL) last night. I'm using my anniversary collection stick, but after so many years of shitty arcades, I am much more comfortable with a pad. I will probably be picking up a 6 button pad in april.
JM
This collection will mark my first time even playing Third Strike, so feel free to kill me tomorrow after I get the game.
I got this. I hate when some people pick the same character EVERYTIME. Ok dude, i know youre good with SF2 normal Guile. You dont have to pick him 15 times in a row. I still hate that back breaker air throw of his 15 or whatever years later. It is good fun when you find someone of the same skill set tho. Its all about the Yoga Noogie.
If we have a good connection, I can run you through the basics of whoever you want to play as.Quote:

I just played online for the first time, and it is damn fun. Some guy talked shit after I beat him the first match saying "ok, time for you to fight the real shogo", meaning he wasn't playing before. I proceeded to hand him an ass whooping for the next 3 matches.
My question is though, how do you invite people to your game to play you?

I'm almost in the same boat that you are in. I own it for DC, but since none of my friends play it, I'm getting killed online. I've had some good matches though. Almost all of the matches are lag-free though, so thats a plus!Quote:
