bahn, if you are getting bored and don't feel like raising your rank any higher- please DO come see me...
MS doesn't need to make a standardized lobby, developers like Capcom just need to put some more care into their XBL lobby formats. Games like Crimson Skies and Burnout 3 for example are a lot more functional than the collective crap served with CVS2 and SFAC. It's total laziness...it's not like they lack the tools to develop something that is a bit more modern and user-friendly.Quote:

Does that mean you're intending to beat me?
Heh, and I am not bored, I've played over 400-500 different players by now. There's just a shortage of available TNLers involved. (Your proclaimed fisticuff dominance willl have to wait until after 6:30 this evening when I get in from work).

Okay, I sent out a number of friend invites just now. If you posted on this thread, you'll most likely have received a friend invite from me (unless you're already on my list). I intend to go later tonight. Got some work to finish first.
Kyo, if I could have found it for $10, I'd have bought it, but I haven't seen it below $30 in a while. Just played this for a sec to get used to the S controls, and they're not too bad, although reliably using the strong attacks will be a bitch. The SF flick is cleaner-looking than I thought it would be, although not being able to fast forward or rewind it sucks. Quick pausing though, which is impressive. This is definitely off of a VHS master, which is what I had, and gave to a friend, and it's not like it's an amazing movie or anything. Damn good deal for $30, every SF II game (in essence), plus Third Strike, plus the SF II movie. Can't beat that.
Send me an IM, I'll play on whatever.Quote:

I dont plan on playing this a lot online. I get frustrated when it lags a bit and I cant do what I want.
I get lag 10-15% if ever when I play online. Oh well, nothing's perfect (example being in the actual arcade itself).Quote:

If I am playing its been 90% Hyper over 3s. But am willing to play either. I should be on tonight, for a while. Probably will play either or, chances are it will be Hyper. If you want to play 3s, jump into Hyper and say so and I'll play.
good playing you tonight Clash Master. Keep at it and in time you'll improve :)
Yeah I feel like I am actually improving, learning shit. I NEED to be better at throws, and tech throws. And the utter annoyance of not being able to perform a Dragon Punch like I can in every other SF game has made me play as more Charge characters, and am liking that a lot.
Oh and its really fun kicking the crap out of someone with E. Honda, did that after playing with you bahn.
I've had no problems throwing dragon punches, charging moves are another story though. I didn't notice any lag during my match online. I hope that trend continues. Once I get back into my groove with the SF II stuff, I'll give Third Strike a shot. How in the Hell do I send an invite to folks for a game in this?
I had a couple of matches with Destro last night. I was shocked that we didn't experience any lag at all during our Third Strike and Hyper matches, communicator and all. Even though Destro destroyed me in Third Strike, it was a lot of fun. I goddamn hate the lobby system though. It's so unintuitive compared to Halo 2, and it's stupid that the game isn't Live aware.
Nonetheless, it was still worth the $30 I spent. Playing Street Fighter 2 and 3 online is a dream come true. I love you, Xbox and Xbox Live. <3 <3
Yeah, some guys have AWESOME connections. When I play Clash Master and ssbomberman in particular, our matches have always been seamless and consistent.Quote:

Man -- I explained this in both TNL and GN forums. Ok, take notes -- you send invites the same way you would issue them in Hyper Fighting. Sending invites can only be done if you're hosting a match. As a precaution though, unless you wanted to be bombarded by potential random strangers -- set the Player Option from "All Players" to "Friends". Then, hit the START button to bring up the menu to select the desginated person you wish to invite on your Friends list. Once you've selected their name -- select Send Player Invite and of course, you can even associate a brief voice message with it. Now go get 'em Tiger.Quote:

Those were some good matches cowdisease. no lag whatsoever. It was close there in every round. This game is a dream come true. I have always loved 2d fighters, but none of my friends over the years even bothered to learn how to throw consistant fireballs, let alone learn strategies and stuff. Here 10 some years after i played it, SF2 is still funny as hell and fun. That game is truely timeless.
any word on an alpha collection?
The Capcom bastards should have included Alpha 3 on this collection. SLUTS!Quote:

Yeah,it was great owning you with Makato.
And Bahn~sorry,my modem got DC'd and i couldn't get back on.I think the lines in my crib need to be updated.but i am in a apt so the likelyhood of that is slim..but i will try.
I welcome all 3s challengers.i love the game.and it sucks playing against people who pull the plug when you rape them the first round.happend twice already. sucks.
JBNagis
That's why I only play with people on my friends list (which primarily consists of TNL people). You can trust them for not pulling the plug during a match. I don't think I have you on my friend's list yet, so expect an invite soon. Hyper's cool and all, but it's all about Third Strike for me. You'll need to show me show Makoto strategies, because I like using her.Quote:

I did not play him again because he was dumb, proceeded to play a few more people with no lag at all.
Stupid swedes.

I had a few lag-free Hyper matches, then played some Third Strike, did pretty well, and then went online with it and won two fights, with the third ending up with the opponent dropping. I can't believe how smooth the Live play is.
I'll be on tonight, & I'll be sending out some friend invites before I get on, so hopefully I'll see some of you around.

Playing this, you can't really care about your record too much, or all you'd play would be Ken and Chun. That's boring to me, so I jump around. That means I lose sometimes against someone that's constantly picking Ken, but I make sure to pick Ken at least once and own them hard. Just so they know I can. Then I go back to Q.
Shit. I stick to my bread and butter characters...but depending on how well I like my opponent, I'll jump around to other characters I can play with as hard.
So you're godly in 3s, Mzo?
Nah, I'm pretty casual with it. If you played JBNagis, I felt that we were pretty even when we played, so I guess I'm around where he is.
My friend John (Darmonde here) is better than I am. His record last I saw was like 160 wins out of 190, I thought that was pretty good. I'll make him post his Live name.
I am going on in about the next half hour or so.
Will you be on Hyper or Third Strike?
Hyper -- followed by 3s later in the evening.Quote:

Man, I thought the "honorable" player types died out around the same time that flattops, ankle socks, and Boy George became played out.
heh.i played some guy who used Akuma...i used Makato(owned him).than he picked Chun...so i show him a good way to use Akuma and he quits....pansy.
Happend last night again. Some guy was doin a little turtle Ken style of play.beat me twice with my Makato...so i switch to Alex...own him hardcore 2 times in a row..had a perfect...and he quits the match. It gets annoying. Had a guy quit after i stalled out his jump wiff Hugo.I really don't care. the fact that i know i am better than that person...is good enough for me.
i will be on in about 10 min.hit me up
JBNagis
Just got disconnected from a match with bahn, I think our final tally was him with 6 wins, and me with 3, which would have been 7-3 has my connection not crapped out on me (which it's done three times today.) I enjoyed some Hyper before playing him in Third Strike. Most notably, I faced someone who spent the entire time bitching about this game, and saying that he wanted to play Halo 2 instead of this, and then dared me to face him again after trouncing him. Since I didn't feel like dealing with that shithead, I decided to face some other folks. Luckily, I found a high-level person, and did failrly well before falling to his many psycho crushers. Fun hour.
Edit - Got the connection back on track, and faced a guy for about five fights, with a one round limit. I'm amazed at how that simple change forces you to really step up your game, as you don't have a second or third round to learn from your mistakes. Playing with the thumbstick makes the games much easier to control, and a bit more fun as well. I also won every match against this guy, which was astounding to me.
No way, man -- playing with a thumbstick is lame.
Either way gg's -- next time, I won't go easy on you.
Just picked this up with the new 15th anniversary stick and trying to learn it all over again. I haven't played much street fighter since the Genesis days but I will consistently work on my skills every day. Great game.

nope~i play Makato most of the time...and i switch to Alex...everyone else seems to play shotos...i have notice certain kinds of players.
Ryu turtlers
Ken Scrubs
Chun li scrubs.
Hugo Jump wiffers.
its annoying at times.but gratifying when i see throught there play styleand murder them.you can look for me on 3s.Makato is waiting.
JBNagis
Well I use chun li quite a bit so I guess I've got scrub status. Thankfully Ibuki is my backup, plus Mokoto is getting some practice.
I'm giving Alex some thought as I used to play him when SF3 first came out.
i not saying your scrub cus you use chun li...its just that everyone i have played that uses chun plays her the exact same way...just waiting for c,m to super....except for Bahn(who owned me by the way) eveyone else bee predictable. So i usually use Alex against most chun player..they don't seem to know what to do with rush elbow pressure game.its very gratifying...i usually have a big grin on my face when i win :D
JBNagis
I think JB can back me up when I say I play everyone, no matter how much I may suck with them =D
I was hoping that wasn't used much, I have a few other suprises in mind so I hope something different works.Quote:

When you're in close with Alex, best thing to do is a standing strong or a standing medium. From there you can combo an EX flash chop, an EX knee grab (the ex hits grounded opponents), or even a boomerang raid.Quote:

Havent played any fighters much less SF2 or 3 in a while, but I'll probably pick this up at work tomorrow. I'm glad there isnt a whole lot of lag, and that factor alone will be the driving point to me getting this.
So NOONES had lag on the level of CVS2 in this unless they get on a slow server, or whatnot? If no, then a bunch of you who dont already have it,and those that do will be getting some friend invites from me tomorrow night.
I look forward to actually playing people who dont use JUST shoto characters for a change, and it sounds like a lot of you are pretty diverse in your pickings. I've never played against anyone who uses Makoto,Chun Li,or Urien, etc. so it should be fun-
The whole lag discussion has been discussed to death by now - and it's not perfect; but you won't find the same laggy issues like that of CVS2: EO, SVC, or GGXX#R. Third Strike tends to suffer from laggier games than Hyper Fighting mostly on account that boasts more animation than its predecessor.
anyways -- we'll see ya soon.
Just got on a few days ago, haven't played that much and getting owned at 3S, so if you want to increase your winning percentage hit me up.

His Ken thwomped my ass. I beat his Oro a couple of times. Good times.
Do they offer cheaper subscription deals without the headset? I already have one of those from a friend who quit his over a year ago.
No. but they did have some budget trial pack w/headsets they were selling for around 30 bucks or so; Gamestop and EB had them IIRC when I worked there. Check with your local retailer or just ask Mzo.Quote:

I hope my money didn't go to waste just now.
It didn't, and bahn just whooped my ass something fierce. That ONE win sure felt sweet though. Thank goodness I got an IM alerting me to a press release flood. Voltz, I'll add you to my friends list, then you can kick my ass 15 times in a row.

voltz: are you trying to send me an invite to play online or chat in the dashboard? if so, you have to create a chat session for that.
I've got SF3 on standby bahn, hurry up!
Update: N/M -- i see your invite on 3s. I am coming.
Protip #3: Set your filter to "Friends Only" so that you don't get invaded by strangers.
Does your headphone work ok? I can barely hear the background noise.
I got hung up on the subscreen so I didn't see the time run out, sorry. :p
Got pretty close.
Ok, I am getting really sick of playing against Ken. Everyone I play against in 3s plays as Ken, and only Ken. I'll just play random people and everyone of them picks ken. I usually mix it up in hopes of convincing the other person to mix it up and TRY someone else, but they don't. Every now and again I play some really good Alexs and Hugos. But most of the time its people playing as Ken, and thats lame.
Just get your local store to call around...there were a few at my local store, so Im sure youll find it...Quote:

It has been upgraded to simply scrubby nowadays. Like, Ken is mad scrubby, or Sol is a scrubby char. =)
I played someone who totally owned with Twelve. I don't know what I'm doing at all when it comes to third strike and yes everyone picks shotos but i dont care if I'm getting beat by some cheap fuck as long as I'm learning from it.
I had a couple of good (lag-free, woot!) matches with JBNagis last night. He said that he hasn't seen anyone else play with Makoto, so I'm glad that I offered him something different from the shoto-fest he normally gets.
I just can't hold a conversation and play Street Fighter at the same time. I was talking with JBNagis about getting the Communicator to work with X-Arcade, and next thing I knew, my Ryu was playing horribly while I was stammering and saying "um" a lot. If you're losing against me, just ask me a question. You'll win the round in no time.
Unfortunately, JBNagis had to quit during our Ryu vs. Ken match. I wanted to see if I could come back and win two straight after losing the first round. Still, good times.
Bahn, at what speed do you think it's best to play Hyper online? Turbo 2 or Turbo 3?
Destin, Gibbits - PM me your Xbox Live gamertags or send me a friend invite. I want to increase my pool of TNL SFAC players in my Friends List.
Gibbits, getting your ass kicked, and LEARNING from it is great. I also don't mind getting stomped, as it's usually a good learning tool. I'm really enjoying using Hugo in third strike, he's NUMBA VUN!
I've seen a few people pick Makoto -- but that's usually after they're demonstrated their "skills" with the shotos.Quote:

As for playing Hyper -- I recommend 3, since it offers a bit more speed and excitement. 2 is ideal for those who are looking to have something closer to the average speed many are generally accustomed to.
I am off tomorrow so I hope to catch ya on sometime this evening after 9:30 or so.
I'll play you then, it might take some time to get used to playing SFAC with this shitty third-party pad though, since my S controller is shot.
I was picking makoto for awhile and had a pretty funny mind game doing that dash punch of hers.
I did manage to get at least 1 win last nite (with elena non the less). From what I gather, my main reason for losing all the time must come from my offense game cause it's really leaving me open.
