Strider, what's your gamertag? I'll be on when I get home this afternoon in a couple of hours.
My tag is DOCPLOW. You will get many free wins from me. I'll be watching basketball tonight, but I may get in a few rounds before and definitely after.
I'll send you a friend invite either later tonight or tomorrow, if you don't mind.Quote:

Well, it took longer than expected, but I finished my SFAC stick mod. It now has a Happ Competition stick and Competition Convex buttons. Now I have an arcade-perfect controller that is compatible with the Communicator.
http://www.the-nextlevel.com/board/a...chmentid=14602
EDIT: I tested the controller and found out that the Xbox does not recognize the Communicator plugged in, even though its green led lights up. This is horrible. I don't even know how this happened, as I barely touched the PCB and Communicator port. What's worse, I don't even know where to look to fix this. Ugh.
Good stuff...now I expect you to own!
I can't be bothered to wade through 21 pages, so can someone just tell me how this fares as a port? Is it arcade perfect like double impact or is it like the DC(3rd Strike) and PS2 ones?
I'll make it simple for you...buy the game. Nuff said...Quote:

The PS2 and Xbox versions of 3S are arcade perfect. The Xbox version may be slightly faster than its arcade equivalent, but the speed difference is trivial.Quote:

Street Fighter is good fun game.
Me too. I didn't get replacement buttons, I'll probably regret that. But the difference between the stock and happ sticks is night and day.Quote:

Otherwise, I'll have to sell this stick, buy another SFAC stick and do the mod all over again.
Tain got XBox live set up, so I hope to get my ass handed to me by some of you guys soon!
I'll be going on so keep an eye out.
Will do, I need to get back into this, and just viewing the openings throughout SF II's run got me into the spirit.
Edit - After losing some matches against a killer Ryu player, I decided to take my chances with quick match, and found someone I was able to beat soundly in most of our matches.
which one of you have the gamertag with the word "internet" in it...the least you could do was give me some heads up so I don't have to try to figure out which TNLer I amgoing up against.
Jeremy: He must of been super scrubby.
I was fighting internet, we had a great session and I got to try a couple of new things I didn't expect to be good with.
If any of you fight him, watch out for his Hugo. :)
A good Hugo...this I must see.Quote:

It's 10:30 eastern, I'll be going on for a while. If anyone wants some free wins against my Oro & Makoto, my tag is DOCPLOW.
I hate blockbuster, they have 3 copies in stock but they're for sale not for rent. So the 5 rows of shit for sale opposed to the two rows for rent.... yeah ok.
Enh, just buy it. It's cheap and I guarantee you'll get more hours out of it than just about any other game.
BTW - is it just me, or does this game badly need a disable shoto option? Because I am really, really bored of playing against Ryu & Ken, and that's all 95% of people use.
shotos fucking annoy the hell out of me, why can't people try someone else? JUST FUKCING LOOK AT THE MOVELIST and try! Yarg,!!
Heh I use Elena ^.^ (Tain uses Ken, HAH)
since sf third strike is my favourite, and possibly the best 2d fighter ever...does it play perfectly or are there issues with this version? and I'm talking about the ps2 version, since I'd never be able to play with an xbox pad and won't front for a joystick.
The PS2 version is just fine, but don't be a dork and buy the PS2 version. Get a controller converter for the Xbox or something so you can at least have the option of going online.
haha, I love how everyone hates the shotos. Ryukenakuma should totally not be in the game; it would make a fantastic game better imo.
When do you guys play? Hit me up whenever you're on.
For some reason, I'm useless against REALLY terrible people. They're just so... so RANDOM o__o
Anyway, what REALLY gets to me is that I have to be the aggressor in EVERY fight. When I see someone who's a full screen away still backing into the invisible wall, I just hulk out and go into all out attack mode.
Is this some subtle jab at me for my "random" Hugo? :pQuote:

I'm pretty indifferent to shotos...I used to mainly play ken and only developed my Hugo to encourage other people at the arcade to branch out. If anything, picking a shoto is often giving me the advantage since most people don't know what Hugo can do, while I know Ken's tactics pretty well.Quote:

The really frustrating part is that it doesn't even do anything for them, it still gives them the loss, it just prevents me from getting a win.
I guess their ego can't handle losing to somebody as low-ranked as me, but yeesh - I'm a clean player, never throw, don't turtle excessively, and don't use shotos. How do I deserve this crap? Screw you, Capcom, for not fixing the single most retarded feature any game has ever had...I can't believe nothing's changed from CvS2. In fact, I think it's worse, because now you can drop after the match and the win won't count.
I suppose I can feel good knowing I'm taking down better players, but it's lame not being rewarded for it, and makes me think evil thoughts toward Capcom knowing it'll never be fixed or even noticed.
Stop caring about the rankings, they're worthless. All the SS players are people who play obsessively and are there through sheer number rather than skill. You are not your rank; it really doesn't matter to anyone but idiots.

The only good Shoto in the game is Ken anyway. Nobody falls for fireball traps anymore w/ parrying and dashing, learn how to think your way out of that old school shit and it will force Shoto users to think as well.
The only good Shoto is a DEAD Shoto.
About the same odds as Street Fighter IV being made.Quote:

And really, what is the point of modern game design if not to fulfill my own personal desires?
It was just a two month trial. I'm moving, and work is fucking hell right now and so on and so forth so I figured I'd just hop back on live in a month or so. I'm just saying the proliferation of shotos made this decision easier to arrive at.Quote:

I'm godawful, played 20 or so matches and won 3. :(
Well I haven't really played much, ever. Someone come on and send me a challenge or something. I can't navigate this live menus at ALL.
Also explain how to send invites and such. Pressing start brings up my menu, where I can browse friends, but if I select a friend, my only options are "Remove Friend" and two other things like voice and shit.
This is everyone's chance to get back at me for Halo 2.
I see you on clashmaster..I just...can't...fight you!
Create a friend's only game and then go into your friend's menu to send an invite.
Had some good matches with Cowutopia, despite my dirty shoto self. I'll definitely be playing a lot of this, $30 well spent.
But now, Halo 2 and some friends call/nag.
thanks makes sense now.
I managed to hang in against tain and clashmaster but i need a lot more practice. Lost a bunch of close ones, (and some not so close ones) and managed to win a few.
Oh, and running upstairs to get my communicator I smashed my hand on the banister. My right hand's pinky, ring, and middle finger really aren't working, the ring finger's all blue, and it's starting to swell bad. goddamn. Good thing I'm ambidextrous when it comes to masturbation.
Not making excuses, I could play pretty fine with just the right thumb, but it hurts bad.
edit: shit my hand's getting pretty gruesome. i'd take a picture but i can't operate the camera. maybe instead of playing street fighter i should've iced it immediately
Well my stick still hasnt arrived and though EB games has my order listed as open they've removed the stick from their online store. I wonder if that means they got their backorders and that's all they're making - or if they even got the back orders?
oh: where do i go about buying the ps2:xbox converter? the xbox pad is atrocious! eb doesn't stock them.

Good matches uh..whichever cow guy I fought last night. We were pretty evenly matched. And your poke-fest Elena is bloody annoying....there were so many times I knew the overhead was coming, and I just sat there and watched it hit me anyway. It's hypnotic (and stupid far reaching, too).
Yeah yeah yeah....it still sucks to see my ranking and it looks like I'm like 80-150. Used to piss me off alot more in CvS2. But still, did I pay for this game to get ripped off like that? It's lame they left in an exploit that serves no purpose but to allow losers to cheat other players.Quote:

They've yet to release a Street Fighter without throws, and there's a very good reason why.
And on top of all of that, throwing in 3S is about as unoffensive as it gets. They require their own unique input, are very easily teched, and there's even a miss animation. They're not overpowered in the slightest.

I ended the night with a couple of bouts with Clash Master. Good times. My favorite moment was, during our Q vs. Alex match, I performed Q's taunt when we were at opposite ends of the screen. Clash then taunted with Alex and got a dash punch to the face for his troubles.
Dammit! I placed an order for their stick on Tuesday, hoping to replace the one I have with the busted Communicator port. Happ Controls has already shipped my arcade parts for the mod I was going to do. It's going to suck if I can't get a SFAC stick with a working Communicator port.Quote:

1) my hand looks broken now. not the fingers but the back below the knuckles. my ring finger knuckle is missing.
2) how do you throw people?
3) does playing with a broken hand make me hardcore?
How the hell did you hit your hand so damn hard?
Press jab+short at the same time to throw. If the stick is neutral you get a *hithithit* throw (think yoga noogie), if you press a direction you bodyslam/hiptoss/throw them in that direction.
thank you! i thought it was just k+p but it wasn't working.
run reaaly fast and aim your hand at a banister, then swing your hand into it.
Jab+Short throws, Strong+Forward performs a universal overhead (attack must be blocked standing up), and Fierce+Roundhouse does the taunt or "Personal Action".Quote:

Hello fellaz I am new to this forum. I am also on SF3 online but I only play against people I know will not disconnect on me when I win. I have played a couple people where I got my butt handed to me and then finally I play with a character they don't know what to do with and they disco. If I am man enough to take the loss they should be able to also. If anyone is looking to go against an alright Hugo lemme know. I cycle through all the chars but always start with hugo just because he is the funniest.
Well, you came to the right place if you're looking for competition that won't disconnect on a loss. Most if not all of us don't care about ranking (particularly because Capcom screwed it up) - we only care about getting a good string of matches going.
SF3:3S - most throw oriented 2D fighter in history. And I like it that way.

They're all over the internet. Don't know about where you're at, but in my area pretty much every independent gaming shop has them. But I'll warn you - alot of people say there's an input delay with them, and I think there may be something to that. Mine feels like there's maybe a split-second delay.Quote:

Holy crap. Mzo just taught me something:
I am stupid bad at Third Strike. I could use my excuse of taking a few matches to warm up (which actually does generally apply), but he was still reaming me a few matches in.
Still, some of the later matches were great. Wish you could save replays of online matches.

That's cool, you'll be in the exact same boat as me. Most of the players online are good but not spectacular anyway. There isn't a whole lot of Genei Jin juggling or Makoto 100% going on. I've (thankfully) only come across a few people doing that annoying unblockable Aegis Reflector stuff.Quote:

I still like using Alex because he has a really interesting moveset with lots of nifty throws, even if he's low tier-wise. Makoto was interesting but I never really learned her because I didn't find out about her real combo potential until way late, she always came off as underpowered to me back in the days on my DC. Oh, how wrong I was about that (and how much I had progressed since).
I've been setting aside money for more important stuff but I'll see if I can't spare $30 sometime soon to sneak in a copy of this. I'd also been putting it off because even though it's got Live play it's not like I haven't played the hell out of these games before. Ah well.
Dude back in the day I used to be a huge Street Fighter head.. going to tourneys and the like, owning a SF2 champion pcb etc... then I got burnt out in a way and have never really touched anything beyond Turbo.. so I am WAY out of the loop and havent even really played SF2 or Turbo in almost 7 years.Quote:

I have been playing 3S alot recently. Im still sick of people who pick the same character everytime. 90% of the people i play pick either Ryu or Akuma everytime. How in the world can that be fun? Especially when these people have 100s of matches under their belt. Im not the greatest SF player in the world but at least trying out all the characters, trying to give these dudes a hint to maybe switch it up. oh well...
I have never played anyone online yet that has chosen Q. I pick him right off the bat and people fall for his first super move everytime. I love it.
I actually met a player who refused to play me cause he said my "record sucks". He was one of those 3000 wins out of 3030 matches players. He declined my challenge like 6 times in a row - what an ass.
