What BT Client are you using?
Use BitComet, it is hands down the best BT client software.
1. check to see your max download speed is set to unlimited, and set the port to random unless you know of a specific port that is open.
2. Use Bitcomet, it does all that for you. It saves your partials as .BC files until they are finished, and starts them back up upon reopening the program.

Any BT client can start/stop mid download.

Yup, but I hated using BitTornado, cause I would always forget to save the torrent files, so If I had to reboot and forgot I was downloading a torrent, I would have to go searching for it again. BitComet does all that shit for you, save the torrent file into BC and your done.

I'll give BitComet a whirl tonight.

Ok, thanks for that information. I just downloaded BitComet.

It's faster already.
