Well... shit :| My bubble has certainly been bursted. But thank you for warning me though, because I was going to buy this game just due to the Tekken association and the fact that some of the weapons and attacks seemed pretty cool.
I was wary of the control scheme after hearing about the Rise To Honor system, but after reading what you said, it looks like I had so much more to be concerned about.

This is depressing, but not entirely surprising.
This months PLAY magazine (with Castlevania on the cover) has a poster of DbD, and a very favorable review. Like 3.5 out of 4 favorable.
To be fair, Play, while I like it as a magazine, and is printed on great paper, tends to always overshoot the scores on games.
I'm curious as to what the pros and cons they mentioned were though.
PLAY raves about completely random (read: sponsored) stuff, though? Or am I screwed in the head? I guess it is my word against theirs right now... :P For the curious, EGM scored this a 5/5/6, and PSM gives it a 7. Of those, EGM is probably on-point (and PSM, if you factor in the fact that they score everything high, even for a videogame magazine).Quote:

Wether the score is overshot or not, they rate other stuff pretty low in this issue (Getaway: Black Monday comes to mind) and other stuff pretty high (Oddworld got a perfect score, and Shadow of Rome got a 3.5 out of 4).
Plus, it's Tekken, so I haven't given up hope. (Fuck off Yoshi)
Rise to Honor had a lot of potential. You know what would be neat? Mix Prince of Persia and Rise to Honor to make a Jackie Chan game. Some tweaks and it could be pretty bad ass.
All the gameplay videos of this game robbed me of any hope I once had. Bleh. I don't even feel like trying this one. Everything looks so stiff, slow and unnatural from what I saw. Maybe that changed closer to release, but from what we're hearing here, I doubt it. It looked like the anti-DMC. Fun.Quote:
