Anyone watching the State of the Union Address?

Sounds good so far. I agree that something has to be done to save SS but I'm not entirely sure about Bush's plan. I'd need to read up more on it before I decide against it.

Everything he's been saying is more or less what I expected. I kind of tuned him out when he began talking about bringing freedom overseas, spreading liberty, etc. The U.S. simply has no credibility in this area, IMO. Standing on half a dozen territories while you speak about freedom and self determination is just bullshit. "Iraqui women waking up to mortar fire on election day..." Shit, people on Vieques island had that everyday for 60 years.

I don't care who's speaking and if I support him or not, the State of the Union Address is always boring as shit. I'll catch a few outlines online somewhere.

You get to put something like 4% (may be more, I think) into a private investment of your choice in exchange for reduced guaranteed benefits. It doesn't affect anyone 55 or over, but is supposed to alow you a greater payoff than SS normally gives.

I can't look at or listen to the guy any more. And it's nothing to do with him being Rebublican, it's that he says everything in a smarmy I-know-what's-right-for-everyone tone and constantly wears a half-vapid/ half-condescending smirk that makes me want to bash his freakin' face in.

Glad he's trying to do something about SS, though.

When I went on vacation a couple years ago I wanted to go there because I heard it was the best place to see those bugs that make the water glow. But after hearing about the problems with the military testing site we passed it up. That's OK there was enough shit to see in San Juan. Man I miss it. What's the job market like over there? I know real estate fairly cheap.

I'd rather do this than get nothing at all, like I'm on track for now with the curent system. In fact, I don't even want to contribute to SS at all. I'd rather let my financial planner handle that money for me. It really bothers me that I have to throw my money out the window with the current SS system.

If Bush gets the ball rolling on this, he will still be a fucktard, smarmy asshole. But may just a little bit less.

well at least this way, if done correclty, the money will help others who want to work. The old way just has us giving our money to somene wh doesn't work, then we don't work, we get money, ect ect
