Leave it to Nintendo to do the right thing. It made sense to charge $50-$60 when it cost the companies $30 to make the games, pakage and all. But now that they are less then $5(I think) to make because of the CD/DVD format it was just gouging at $50. I love Nintendo.

I wont believe that ALL new GC games will be 29.99 until Nintendo announces it officially.
As I stated in the PS2 thread, lowering the price of games could lead to lowered quality of the games...
When you buy a DVD for 15-30 bucks, you are most often buying a program/movie that has already made money on TV or in theaters. The home release comes after the fact, and it is economical to charge such a price.
The same is not true for videogames....
I want games cheap, but i dont want cheap games.

By your theory Nintendo couldn't have made any money when they were producing carts. It's really simple, If Nintendo can make a ton of money(which they did) making cartridge games for $50-$60 dollars then charging the same price for CD/DVD games is rediculous. Everyone knows that the price to produce a cartridge game is between 5 to 10 times more( don't quote me on the exact #'s here) then it is to produce a CD game. Remember when the N64 and the PSX were brand new? Any games that came out on both platforms was cheaper on the PSX. Why do you think that was? Think about it.Quote:

This is the best way to combat piracy, sell more games, and get new gamers to take the plunge into gaming (the cheaper gaming is in general, the more of a impulse 'aww hell, I'll try it' purchases will be made).
I hope this becomes the norm.
I belive that's the truth.. I see more people saying. the hell with all buy two games instead of one.. I can see my self picking two games, instead of one, at this price.. I can also see this, as people take chances on games that they would never would have tried.. maybe an animal leader, or doshin the giant.. or animal crossing..Quote:

I hope this meens they will be dropping the ridiculous prices for GBA games to somewhere in the neighborhood of $19.99. Paying $30-$40 for a GBA game is not cool
If this is true, then it's a bigger step for the industry than anything we've seen in a while. That 20 dollars would make gaming so much more accessable to the common person, as well as give Nintendo a huge boost in the marketplace. I, for one, hope it's true.
