Hope!??! have you been to the Wal-mart site? It's on there as we speak. I know this is only one store and 1st party games but what do you think will happen when other stores see this price? They will drop to match so they can compete. Same goes for 3rd party games. It would go something like this, " Gee, Nintendo who makes arguably the best games in the world is selling their games for $30. I think maybe I should drop the price of (insert cheap ass movie game here)." It worked for cigarettes back in the early 90s when they first went over $2.00. One store did it and everyone followed suit. It stayed that way until I quit a few years later. I know cigs and videogames aren't the same but competition is.Quote:

Awesome. I have noticed some GC games are getting cheaper, so I'm happy.
Still where does the extra 10-20 dollars go? I was under the impression that retailers make little on games these days and it's definitely not coming from raw materials. Perhaps Nintendo will slash the licensing fee?
The cool thing about a $29 price point is fringe games (read 2D) could slip back into the market, as it is aside from a few fighters 2D games sell horribly at $50 price points.
In theory anyway... *-neo
SMB has been $29.99 for a few months now because of the impending release of SMB2 :DQuote:

Go buy it now!
All of these price drops are crazy. Let's see how low they're willing to go...
Maybe next we'll see games bundled with systems? I miss that.
That's cool... I'm all for low prices.
This would possibly piss off some third-party publishers, but since when has Nintendo cared about them? :D
:lol:Quote:

Cheaper prices all around are great.
And for the person who said that DVD movies are only in the 15-30 range because they made the bulk of their money in theatres. Can't the same be said for arcade ports to consoles??
I also wonder how much of all this price dropping in attributed to Sony and Nintendo being a little fearful of Microsoft? Sure Sony has this generation in the bag. Microsoft is laying down a plan to build a good report with consumers for xbox2. Nintendo will always make money but trying to get back to #1 isn't a bad goal on their part. So my question really is, Could Microsoft be the savior of gaming?
