Thanks, I'll fix it later.
I think the greatest would be if you made it to the end and fucked up the sequence. Insta-death! LOL

I whipped Athena back in the day. The last boss is impossible to beat unless you have the golden harp(there were many harps but only one golden one) that you can only get at one point of the game(the bottom of hell if I remember right). The only shitty thing is there is NO indication that you need that harp.
I called the Nintendo hotline to find out about that boss and there was 1 specific guy that they wanted me to speak to. This guy couldn't beat that boss either and wanted me to call if I did to let him know how. I called back 3 different times and got 3 different bullshit stories about how to do it from this same douchbag.
I kept at it and the final time I called he told me you needed that one specific harp. When I told him all the other bullshit stories he told me didn't work he said,"I never said that!" and I told him he was full of shit.
Actraiser 2 belongs on this list. That game is tough as nails.
Strangely, I did that in H.S. (except I used a glass on the button) and thought of it as one of the hardest fought victories I ever had in a game. A few years later, I come home from college, pop in alien wars and proceed to run right through it...maybe continuing once. Absolutely nuts...I thought there had to be a harder than hard difficulty I was playing on since it wasn't even half as hard as I remembered.Quote:

Batman and Robin for the Genesis was one of the hardest games I ever played, so much action, so little time. Legendary Wings wasn't all that hard for me, until the final stages when too much shit happened to really keep track of. I got pretty far in RC Pro-Am, and I remember seeing my existing trophies disappear and being quite pissed. I viewed it as "all of that hard work for nothing", a recurring theme with later Rare games.
 That's awesome.Quote:

TMNT my brother and I could finish. Fucking Battletoads we could not. We played the fucking shit outta Battletoads too. We got pretty damn far too. I think the main reason we never finished it is because we ALWAYS played Co-op.
We actually had all the driving levels, swimming, snakes, rat race all the shit down pat but we just could not finish it. Playing Co-op is madness and probably made us kick the shit outta of each when one of us would die.
Battletoads stands out by far for me just because of all the time we invested into it.
Are you using warps?Quote:

Ghosts and Goblins - the Red Arremer's would almost always own me - I had a bait and run tactic to beat them that got me pretty far, but not far enough to beat the game.
Yeah, I was going to mention this one. One of the first games that I played where I couldnt for the life of me figure out how to go to the next level.Probably easily beatable with a FAQ, but frustrating as hell w/o one.Quote:

Good mention on Ultima: Exodus , Toxic. I remember my mom buying that for me back in the day. She told me that once I beat that game she would buy me another but not until, I beat that one. Talk about cruel and unusual punishment. I think I literally bashed the game in with a hammer when I was with some psycho friends --- Mom, didnt ever buy me another game : (
One of the more recent ones that I played, and am surprised no one mentioned is Street Fighter 2010 - un - fucking beatable. And I really wanted to beat it to see if the story tied in to the Street Fighter series. :(
True, but that's not why I stopped playing it. I just didn't find it to be nearly as interesting as the first in the action sections, it seemed like it was lacking in personality... and the lack of sim mode was no good. Still, though, tough game. I had a complete copy I sold to gt2378b not long ago, but considering that he doesn't seem to post ever, I doubt he'll chime in with his progress on it, heh.Quote:

My videogame skills had to evolve to serious memorization because of BattleToads. I dont think it was physically possible to do the motorbike courses just off instinct and fast reflexes. I think I ended up writing down ramp positions and shit like that on paper to where I finally had the whole thing memorized to the point that I could get by.Quote:
