Shooter Fans: Platypus and Operation Blockade

I meant from the website Nippon shootemups www.emudek.com/shootemup .Its a site with loads of freeware shmups....but I dont know which ones to try , as half of them are traumatizing experiences.Try out the baroque shooting demo , and cho ren sha if you havent tried em yet. The java gradius game looks pretty cool also.
Isnt there a strikers game in the arcades these days? 1944 or something? I hear that theres also some other Psyko shmup in the arcades? what about compile , do they have any games in the arcades these days?

If I find any cool freeware shmups, I'll hook you up with links...:) All those you mentioned are very good.

The latest Psikyo shmups are Zero Gunner 2, Dragon Blaze and Strikers 1999. All three are awesome.

1944-the Loop Master is all right. You might be disappointed if you liked 19XX...

Shikigami no Shiro is still very popular in Japan (still competing with Ikaruga and DoDonPachi Dai-ou-jou) If you are familar with either of the Psyvariar games, then you might feel at home with Shikigami since dancing around enemy shots plays a crucial part in scoring high.
Personally, I like it. It's nice and challenging. It also has a decent learning curve. (One coin clearance is possible, but unseating a high score is the real challenge). Be warned-there are many that don't like this game (not sure why).

Maybe I'll start a thread on Shikigami no Shiro in the near future.... ;)

It's actually Strikers 1945 II on MAME. (Stikers 1945 PLUS is also available.)

Im going off topic again......Ive heard that there are quiz games in japanese arcades....are they anygood? I heard about them on some MAME forum , people were pissed that the money that they are donating is being wasted in the dumping of quiz games.

Well, it's kinda ugly, but thing is, the style fits the game perfectly. Play it, and wait until you see some of the bosses, the dark pre-rendered look fits the WWII/futuristic feel wonderfully.

NeoZeedeator: Sorry to hear Blockade doesn't work. :( Probably some video card issue (since you can't run the Quake III engine, either).

Just bought the full Platypus. Really cool looking game. A small taste of parallax laiden high res 2D. One guy made the game....impressive! Immagine what a full team of pro developers could do with 32 bit color high res 2D if one guy can do this. :)

Yeah, it's a video card issue for me MechDeus. But I'll keep the game in mind for future reference.

Actually, I can run most Q3 engine games. Quake 3, FAKK2, Alice, Return to Wolf, Medal of Honor, etc all work. Jedi Outcast and a couple other games, I'm screwed for though.
