Good point. Also I think I just get directed to all the wrong places on the internet, where christians make asses of themselves.

Evolution's reason for why a spider exist makes less sense (it began, like all of us, as a single celled organism, and over billions of years, it gelled into a spider) than the story of Arachne (some hot young girl challenged a goddess, she ticked the goddess off, and so the goddess turned her into a spider). Judeo-Christianity, however, teaches that God engineered the universe, and all that's in it. Why do we build shit? How the hell does Sega Genesis and Mitsubishi Lancer EVOs help us survive? Why do we have emotions? Why the fuck do we have LOVE? Love is an action and attitude... one that is Hyper-counterproductive to survival. Evolution shows that survival is a selfish action, and love is completely opposite of being selfish. As for faith, well, EVERYTHING requires faith. True faith ISN'T blind... it's a reasoned acceptance of the unknown via a trust in a belief. Evolution does not answer all the questions... one must trust that evolution is the most logical explaniation of a system, as is with any religion/worldview. I certainly don't have all the answers, and am still learning... but the Bible is quite an amazing book, and archaeological evidence as well as historical eyewitness accounts (such as the Roman Annals) tend to back it up quite nicely. As for other religions, I do respect them... but I do not accept them. In saying this, yes, I would say that one worldview is 'wrong'. However, I DO NOT hate a person for their worldview. Moreover, I do not hate a person for whatever sin they partake in... GOD DOESN'T HATE HOMOSEXUALS!...But he does hate sin. Sin is sin. Wrong is wrong. I've had many homosexual friends, as well as friends who are drug users, drinkers, you name it. I hang out with them, and though I don't agree with what they do, I'd take a bullet for any of them...
Josh did the same thing...

Christianity is far from being the most rational religion. Far.
Sorry, but look closely at the world and you'll see the seams. It's far from perfect. It is much easier to believe the world came about through gradual change than to accept there is a perfect magical Creature of perfect magical Love out there that knows our deepest thoughts and willed everything into existence in His perfect magical mind. And all the rest, about His befriending prophets, becoming flesh, and preparing a place for us . . . come now.Quote:

Yep, and they will receive the same punishment as Stalin and Hitler and Satan. Lucifer lives with his middle finger up at God for milennia - he gets Hell. Your friend is a good guy but he loves men and not women - he gets Hell. Real rational.Quote:

Why is "God did it" an acceptable answer to "I don't understand"? I can't grasp the concepts beyond higher math, but that doesn't mean it's all a load of crap. Likewise, just because some people find it hard to grasp the concepts behind evolution doesn't mean it must not be true. And unlike the garden of eden, we have evidence to support the theory of evolution (fossil records for one, and if you don't buy those, consider that just about every non-animal based food you eat is the direct result of genetic manipulation by farmers, resulting in the evolution of said food products).Quote:

Why do we have love? I don't know, but considering it helps us raise children (by keeping parents together, and making us defend out children) I'd argue that it has a very important purpose in the survival of our species, if not the survival of the individual.
Essentially, I just think "I don't understand [x] so it must not be true" is a sign of incredible arrogance. I'd rather just admit that there are some things in this universe I (and perhaps humanity in general) will never grasp than try to fill in the gaps with whatever makes me feel best.
Some Christians are pretty stupid, though. Some just don't even know what it is that they're worshiping. For example, apperantly Jesus was the son of God, as it states very clearly many times in the Bible. But you'd be surprised at how many people call Jesus "God".Quote:
