I played the games, I liked the movies. A woman next to me, around my mothers age at the end was like what the hell was that? A lot of people were laughing until the nightmare SH showed up...

It's a fanservice movie for fans of the game, I guess it's an good horror movie for people who haven't played the games, the acting, or rather the dialogue was rediculous...

I liked it, but I won't see it again, until it gets on dvd.

Actually, Ebert hates lots of good movies, like Blade Runner, Blue Velvet, The Ring, and Day of the Dead. Plus he's just a pompous asshole.

Like I was saying yesterday, this is really no better of a movie than Bloodrayne or the other crap Uwe Boll throws out.

I think you're being an idiot by assuming he "hates" them instead of him simply not liking them and moving on with his life. Say what you want about Ebert, but he's a smart guy, and he usually explains himself in the review well enough to justify his score.

He's not the world's most famous movie critic because he's full of shit.

I hate to jump on Ebert's bone here, but he explained pretty well why it was a good movie in his books, and when Roeper and Leno started harping on him about giving it a thumbs up on The Tonight Show he owned the fuck out of both of them so hard the audience was hooting. I think he said something about it not being a parody of the original, but a good story in itself that payed justice to the original.

I think something with this much mixed reaction needs to be seen to be understood for yourself. Dolemite's impressions helped a lot, and I've only ever played Silent Hill (the original) and that was a long while ago, so most of it should be objective.
