Sounds very nice. Thanks.
Hell yea...There's also From Software's Xbox ninja game, Otogi. A couple samurai games coming up too; Onimusha 2 and Way of the Samurai.
Gamers.com is stating that Shinobi may be "GAME OF THE SHOW" Check out their impressions below.
I quoted the article below
---------------------
When Sega hinted first that it would be reviving some of its classic series this year, few people expected Shinobi to be called out of retirement. The once-popular ninja franchise peaked with Revenge of Shinobi for the Genesis, and love for Joe Musashi has waned ever since. In fact, Sega of America didn't even publish the last installment, Shinobi Legions. (Vic Tokai handled the U.S. version of this digitized Saturn oddity.)
Luckily, 15 years after the original arcade game slashed onto the scene, Shinobi is back?reborn on the PlayStation 2. However, this isn't exactly the same hero that you might remember. Sega chose Overworks, one of its internal teams, to handle the creation, as many members have worked on previous games in the series. They have carefully crafted an all-new vision for the series that remains true to the traditional gameplay concepts while injecting a crazy, post-apocalyptic feel that rockets the series in a wild new direction.
Action takes place in fairly straightforward levels filled with enemies, pits and hazards. You won't have to worry about pushing statues or crafting keys out of medallions?it's 100% pure action here. The amazingly tight control allows you to jump, slash, throw shuriken, dash and lock onto enemies with ease. Our new hero wields a cursed sword (acquired by killing his brother in a struggle for command of their clan) that will begin to ebb away at his own life force unless he constantly feeds it the blood of his foes. As you attack multiple enemies your sword gets excited, and you can unleash devastating cinematic special attacks that simultaneously dismember up to six foes at once.
Graphically, Shinobi impresses with atmospheric backgrounds, neat effects and absurdly fluid animation. You'll likely run around for a good minute while simply admiring the lifelike detail of your character's flowing scarf. It's uncanny how real this strip of frayed cloth looks. The music complements the action nicely, treading the fine line between authentic instrumentation and good, old-fashioned 'game-music' sounding stuff.
Overall, Shinobi wildly exceeded our expectations. The only real problem with the E3 demo is that it's far too short and easy. Attendees can easily blast through the one short stage in a few minutes, and all are thirsting for more.

Shinobi is FAR from GOTS. Further proof of Gamers.Com's bias...
Well, Even if its not GOTS, Shinobi still looks and sounds like a pretty cool game.
And thats fine by me :)
I got nothing against Shinobi, it looks fine, and I'll likely get it, It's just definitely not GOTS.
you bought a new PS2...? and I thought you were attending E3...?Quote:

I hardly call that bias.Quote:

Maybe in Gamers.com opinion, Shinobi is GOTS material for them.
Ethugg whats your candidate for the GOTS.....? Shinobi defintely looks like on of the best games in the show to me..
It's good to know the game is pure action.
I still don't see any resemblance to any past Shinobi games. Hopefully it will have some trademark Shinobi stuff like the magics they said weren't implemented yet.
Haha...Quote:

I think I'll just have to play this.
Bias? Bias to whom? Sega? Overworks? Its called an opinion, very differant from Bias. And they also said "Could be Game of the Show"m not "Its game of the Show!"
Ok,OK,
Right now, who cares about what gets GOTS?
Lets just take in the fact that there is a new Shinobi on its way, and it looks to be coming along nicely.
new shinobi
Aaaaaaaaahhhhh- that feels good.
:D
Pure action? Damn right. The small amount of doubt I had is gone.
I want footage to get my own impressions of how it flows. After all, little previews about DMC never really mentioned how god-awful the camera was, and I haven't seen anything that says how bad it looks in Ninja Gaiden as well. I want to see the games' camera in action before I state just how badly I want this.
The new Shinobi sounds good, but one possible bad thing is where Gamespot says the shuriken didn't seem to do damage.
Still, this looks great overall and I'm optimistic that it won't be another Tenchu (nothing against that game, but Shinobi is about kicking butt rather than stealth).
