A World Without Black People
Ok, so it's Black History month, I was recently reading Ralph Ellison's "Invisible Man", Iron Plant's "Lost Urban Youth" thread, A Day Without Mexicans and a host of other things I've been thinking about over the years led me to ask myself a question.
If every black person on the planet was gone tomorrow, would anyone notice? Would anyone care? Would anything really be affected? I mean, seriously, what the fuck do we as a race contribute to the overall human experience?
The answers my mind came up with were: "Not really", "maybe a few might", "at most the United States would have to radically adjust it's GNP and per capita figures" and "Other than civil rights bandwagons for everybody else to jump on? I dunno, I haven't checked"
Maybe it's just my pessimism and feelings of alienation talking, but if we just up and disappeared I seriously doubt anyone would miss us.
What does everyone else think? I especially want to hear from TNL's black posters.
And if you feel the need to troll (Yoshi), do it with intelligence.
