There are raving lunatics on that board that will defend the playback quality on the PSP to the death. Apparently, people on GAF do not settle for "average".
Movies, on the other hand, still need to prove themselfs, but if the quality of the games are any indication, what are you basing your facts from? I've seen quite a few movie trailers on the PSP, and even a freaking music video on the psp (downloaded via a 3rd party memory stick) and it looked f**king phenomenal. Like, the type of "Holy crap I can't believe I'm holding this in the palm of my hand." phenomenal. Believe it.
Sure, the iPod Shuffle is cheaper. You're comparing the PSP to the iPod Shuffle? Please. Next question.
Once again, what are you basing this off of? A $99 Wal-Mart DVD player? Bring a PSP and a DVD player to any average person and ask them which they would prefer. An all in one media device (that by the way, is compact and stylish) or a portable DVD player that has been out for quite some time now. We'll see which one they pick, neh?
This is purely opinion, and is in no way based upon fact. The fact is is that the PSP is a very capable machine with very cool qualities, and I see myself using all of these qualities in the near future. When I'm flying from the San Jose Airport to Virginia, I can see myself watching a UMD movie. When I'm on the bus catching a class at my sparkly new college, I see myself whipping out the PSP for a quick game of whatever.
You can be satisfied with your DS/SP/N-Gage (laugh out loud) but a lot of people are going to soon realize that the PSP is really a great product.
P.S. Saving up for the GBA2 already? Don't count on an '05 release, buddy.
