The media takes advantage of this and pumps videos, movies, advertising, etc. that tells young White kids (sometimes almost subliminaly) "the only way you're going to be "cool" and accepted is by akwardly immitating the thugs force-fed to you by MTV (now even VH1) and the likes."Quote:

"Well, all his friends listen to it and I am just too old to get it I guess", they'll rationalize.
A few months ago I was at my local gym (without my Archos MP3 player) and instead of the normal satellite radio they had on one of the nearby Gansta-rap stations which have ClearChanneled their way into this market in recent years. Every few lines or so was Nigga this and Nigga that - after hearing "Nigga" a half dozen times I said fuckit and went to the on-duty manager. If I had to guess, I'd say at least half the people at the gym were probably just as miffed as I was, yet strangely no one had the balls to stand up and say something. Now, remember - I'm in the suburbs in CT (probably still 80-85% White) not downtown Detroit. "Do you REALLY think this is acceptable music for a place of business" I asked the young girl acting as manager? I mean, how nice that it's supposed to be "wrong" for a White person to use this word yet one can be subjected to hearing it repeatedly in public over and over again..... Fuck that. I even called to talk to the "real" managment the next day and told them if I EVER heard that garbage while I was at the gym again I'd be cancelling my membership. Guess what, I haven't heard it since.....
A local video store sometimes plays it too, with young kids and families who go there, etc. Now, mind you it isn't just Gansta Rap that may be inappropriate, there's lots of garbage on the radio today (most "music" nowadays is) but Gangsta Rap stations are what I hear playing from gas stations, convienence stores, video stores, and other area businesses.
So in short, yes "White Americans" are buying up rap music - but the question is would they be if it wasn't being shoved down their throats? I mean, look at the Simpsons episode recently with 50 Cent. I didn't see it, but read the premise was something like Bart wanted to go see the 50 Cent concert and Homer and Marge wouldn't let him so he snuck out. Again, without seeing the show I could guess that 50 Cent and his former crack-dealing buddies come over to the Simpsons for dinner and Homer and Marge realize what a nice bunch of fella's they are and how wrong they were to judge them, etc. etc. More propaganda for White America telling parents that it's OK for your kids to listen to violent, sexist music.
And it isn't just White folks who may not like this music, a recent poll in a Black magazine (Ebony, was it?) about Gangsta rap had nearly 80% of respondents stating they flat-out didn't like it. In fact, there are many, many Black people and organizations who oppose the "gansta-fication" of their own youth (Cosby's recent statements come to mind) but who the media will never let you know about on a mass scale.
Well sir, I will assume you are NOT directly attacking me, as I was not you.Quote:
