Oh man, a good looking PD? Hell yeah.

PD was always good looking.

A PD that runs well? Hell yeah.

It's an exciting prospect that's for sure, after playing Perfect Dark again just a few days ago, I realized how nice an online Perfect Dark would be. (PD0 will most likely have Live enabled) I just hope it doesn't get canned like the PD mod that was originally planned for the first Half Life.

Perfect Dark was my biggest FPS disappointment ever but this just might improve it enough to my liking.

Odds of this project seeing frutition: 0%

Why people with talent in terms of asset production and development waste their time ripping other people's IP only to have their work go down the toilet six months later is beyond me.

If nothing else, do not announce your project until you have a fucking deliverable! At least then something can bounce around the Internet after the project gets peaced out by lawyers; doing this just builds worthless hype.

But it's interesting to see what people can do with something that a completely different team originally created 4-5 years ago. Even if it doesn't show up in the near future it's still interesting.

Everything Dipstick said, just like I talked about in the cancelled Chrono Trigger Resurrection thread. They could also put these efforts towards something really cool and new, but I suppose that would mean taking the time to think up their own concept.

Not that this wouldn't be cool to have happen, PD did have some cool shit in it and the briefcase gun is one of the greatest guns ever, but still. Don't announce this now. Idiots.

It'd be a lot more interesting if it was more than a couple nifty renders and random screenshots exactly like the ones you'll find on a billion cancelled mods. Which would mean finishing it. Which would mean not repeating the mistakes of every other mod maker. Which they're already doing.

lol, it'll be closed down 5 minutes before it's about to be released, negating all the hard work (like the chrono trigger 3D remake). But it looks great, I'd download it.

It's not to build hype, it's to attract other talented hands to help complete the project.

After just beating Half Life 2... I tried to play Perfect Dark about 15 minutes ago... and I couldn't. I'm not a graphics whore in the least, and I still play my N64 often enough, but I consider it to be unplayable. Everythings blurry as hell, the controls are horrible, and the framerates suck, ass. This mod is a cool idea but I doubt it will go anywhere.

Have you guys heard of the new Black Mesa mod? They are essentially trying to do what this mod is doing except with the original Half Life. I'm more excited to see what happens to that.

Very wise words. I have been on numerous mod teams pre-release and the only ones that were successful were the ones that managed to publicise their concept and gain popularity and support for it before they released. Without that they are always doomed.
Before I joined my current mod team I was on another team that was in direct competition. At one point we had a much better team and much more content made however their mod made friends with a number of big community website personnel and soon after their PR machine started pulling highly talented modders including myself.

I hope I get a chance to play this Perfect dark mod but I've seen a lot of similar mods go down because they are not on the right engine. Eg. they try to make a Blizzard classic on an EA engine.

Mods go down because people get disheartened when they can't say "Abracadabra" and a finished project shows up.
