Why do they have problems with musicians and artists saying company names?

I'm assuming the original lyrics include Sega somewhere in there?

Yep, the Blank represents the gap where the song was, it pauses for a second on that word and carries on.

"play me out like my name was Sega."

It always bugs me when I hear censored songs in EA games. It just doesn't sound right with sudden dead air.

They did it in THPS3 also, in the redman song talking about PS2.

Similar to the new, Playstation 2.

I'm surprised that SmackDown vs. Raw has a song directly referencing the Super NES, which didn't surprise me when I heard the song on the GC's Day of Reckoning.

I like the bleep, it's classic censorship at it's best.

This is being blown up for no reason. Nearly all games from all companies have done this, because making references to other companies in competition with you can open up a lot of law-related problems.

I don't remember a beep, just the word being removed so it sounds like they stop singing and the suddenly start again.

I'm just dissapointed they never used it, normally it adds a little humor to radio whenever Greenday or Eminem are on.

I don't buy this. First, you are allowed to mention competition when you are doing an ad directly saying that your product is better than them. If you could get sued for that, half of the ads on TV wouldn't exist.

And in this case, it couldn't have been seen as even that.

Isn't calling EA a buch of limp-wristed girly men stating the obvious?

The previous statement justified by the fact that people who censor things are, by definition, limp-wristed girly men. Even if they're female.

I don't know any specifics, but I do know that a lot of games do this, not just EA games. I figure this is just more people jumping on EA for anything they can, even if what they've done is harmless and insignificant.

EA's just playing it ultra-safe.. They might as well blank out the whole song if they're going to do that, because it's just not the same..

They should delete all the songs! That would rule! I wish the game has a custom soundtrack because I am REALLY REALLY tired of Hip Hop music in videogames.

Chux, I don't remember the song, I think it's the one that also references Led Zeppelin and Pac-Man.

There are literally millions of songs out there. Surely they could have found one that didn't name one of their rivals.

I dislike EA for all their product placement in videogames. This one is particularly annoying.

People are so fucking paranoid about EA raping their sisters that they get their panties in a bunch over ANY little thing. Its so fucking great.

Anyway, seriously, why is this a big deal? Its like when rappers would put that huge fucking blur on t-shirts and marijuana leaves in their music videos.

There are, but Jump is one of the most recognizable and memorable songs from the mid-1990s, which is perfect for the 18-30 year olds that buy the bulk of EA's games. Get some perspective.

Besides, EA has already owned Sega over and over. First by saying DC couldnt survive without them, and then by getting the NFL exclusive franchise and forcing Sega to sell VC for pocket change. This is just spitting on a corpse, and its awesome.

I would say this "diss" isn't nearly as bad as having a strong hold on a specific genre for five years.

Just a guess.

Silly goose, that's GOOD for the industry. But this "diss" means absolutely nothing, funny to see the bruhaha over it though.
