College students and Communism: The great retardation
What on earth is the deal with college students and the idea of communism? Why do they dig it so much? And how did this shit get started?
Before anyone chimes in with “like omg, are just now seeing this, IRON IS THE TARDED”. I’ve known about it for a while, but it is only recently that I've been made to live with a hardcore believer in it.
We’ve had a few arguments about it. In my own opinion I think communism is pretty on paper but will never work because of the hearts of the people.
Ok, I’m lying. I think communism is shit on paper too. Why? I’m an asshole. I don’t like my fellow man enough to work my damnedest for his good. No, I don’t hate my fellow man, and I’d rather not see him in pain. But the idea of me working 5 times as hard and getting the same shit as the guy next door is not my idea of how shit should be done.
Right now I see a few flaws in the logic of most people who like the idea of communism.
1. They assume everyone is like them. Just because you may do your job because you like it, does not mean everyone else thinks that way. Most people are pretty basic and only work because it helps them get things that pleasure them.
2. They think people can be taught to go beyond being basic. They blame the current educational system for people being materialistic and shitty. They think if people were taut to not be basic they would stop.
IMO #2 is wrong because it isn’t the job of the government to teach those sorts of things. Teaching people ethics and morals is brainwashing. This is true regardless if you agree with what they are teaching.
Besides, who would be doing the teaching? Wouldn’t one group have to assert it’s beliefs? That isn’t very communistic is it?
3. They blame capitalism for the corruption in the current government. Capitalism as an ideal has nothing to do with ethics. If anything, said corruption is anti- capitalistic because they are using a party outside of the business world to get what they want.
This sort of thing is common to humans, and would pop up in any form of society. Until people change as a whole, you will always have individuals that take advantage of the system around them to get what they want.
