Keep in mind, it's kind've hard for your parents to send you to college when even they were unable (and still would be unable) to send themselves. My dad has a little bit of money but he holds me responsible for my life and doesn't toss much in my direction. I grew up in a blue collar home and I'll be perfectly happy staying that way. Just because you're so caught up in societies "go with the flow" conventional, boring and virtually unrewarding lifestyle doesn't mean that everyone else has to be.

This is the stupidest thing I ever heard in my life. The reason why my parents wanted to send me to college is because they want to see me be more successful and prosperous than they were. Its possibly the greatest gift they couldve given me.

Besides, whats wrong with wanting to give more for my children than what I got? Whats wrong with wanting to improve and advance your lifestyle? Whats wrong with being comfortable so you can focus on other, more personal pursuits?

Life is what you make it. If you become a slave to your job, thats your own fault. Plenty of successful, white-collar people live meaningful, fulfilling lives. A lot dont, but then again, a lot of lower-class people dont either. The amount of money you make has nothing to do with it.

I don't give people shit who had their parents pay for them. They're lucky SOBs. I payed for my college entirely by myself thus far (graphic design) and will pay entirely by myself for the next half (animation). This gives me bragging rights, but it doesn't give me the right to look down on you.

I know Gibbits in real life. His family doesn't have a lot of money. Everything he has he worked for (or schemed for).

As a rule I would say yes. There are exceptions.

Money gives you hot girls, fast cars, quality clothes, good food and a nice place. If you have that why wouldn't you be happy?

Very true, but life is a lot harder when you dont have that much money. The #1 reason for divorce (and arguments in marriages/relationships) is money.

Most electrical or plumbing contractors easily make more money than your average data entry clerk or bank teller. The whole 'blue vs white' collar thing is shite. Each way has it's own positives and negatives.
As for me, finally able to go to school at 25 when I qualified for a pell grant, I remember sharing some animosity towards those who got a free ride off their parents. Now I see people getting a ride off the government(like me) and still fucking up. But if I am ever unfortunate enough to sire children, I'll be damned if I'm going to let them piss away so many years like I did if they really want to go to school.

I really think College is just the next "logical" step in life for most people. As while others already have plans that can exclude traditional 4 year colleges or community schools, college is just the next step in advancing your life further. I am proud to say that I will attend a traditional four year college, and I KNOW that in some way it will reward me in ways I never dreamed possible.
