After about a month after applying, my loan for $4000 was cleared today. At lunch, I withdrew it (the wad of 50's was half an inch thick lol) and headed to my favorite musical instrument shop, guitar world.
While I was there, I picked up one of these:

a Rickenbacker 4001.
Ok, technically not what is pictured, but it looks identical. The finish I got (fireglo) is not given justice by mere pictures, this thing is beautiful. Its the easiest bass I've ever played, and I'm a huge fan of the signature ricky tone. Of all my dream basses, this was ranked no.2 (only behind a Wal, and not by much), so this purchase is like buying a dream car for me.
This only took up 2/3 of my loan, so I purchased an Ashdown 300 watt 1x15 bass bin to add to my current setup (240 watt 2x10 Galien Kruger combo). I can't find any pictures of the one I bought (limited 50th aniversary edition), so you'll just have to wait until I get my hands on a camera (hopefully tomorrow).
when its all hooked up, it sounds incredible. Loud rig for its size.
It feels so damn good to be finally playing on good gear after 5 years of shit that would be described as mediocre at best. I can't describe it.
Sorry, just had to share this!
