Pretty much the case. Either it has too much action and not enough puzzles and exploration and it makes people unhappy, or its the direct opposite. Some people never happy. Just give them reason to complain. I remember Hero was complaining about DMC having all this repetetive action too.Quote:

I finished it today and it was awesome. The people complaining about the end made it sound a lot worse than it actually is. The spinning horizontal logs were easier than the vertical climb sections, but it wasn't that hard. I died a whole lotta times but you just have to figure out the path. I found it pretty rewarding actually. And Hades was just straight up cool man.
End fight was set up really well and was fun but the problem is you lost the scale of the battle with the camera so far back. If it was like in a city where you could destroy shit and see the magnitude of the fight than it would have felt much more epic (like the rest of the game feels).
I liked this just as much as Sands of Time. Looks freaking awesome, great level design with some good puzzles (nothing earth shattering), sound is top notch, awesome voice work and a great story. I even liked the ending! I can't remember the last game ending that I felt was actually complete let alone good (extras at the end are great too). And the magic upgrades are awesome. They didn't over load you with moves and everything they give you is usefull. Great combat system...great everything. By far one of the best games of the year.

Overall, GoW was a more accessible game than Sands of Time, which I could only complete with Action Replay codes. I'm proud to say I won GoW the old fashioned way. :D

Just finished all 10 stages of the Challenges of the God. Damn that last stage is hard. Took me almost 3 hours just to get up there! What a sweet game, now I can try again with harder difficulty.
I just started this game today and it is exactly what I was hoping PoP2 was going to be; fluid fighting with some puzzle elements.
I was going to start playing this tomorrow night but a bunch of stuff came up. Kind of a bummer. Maybe I'll be able to get some time alone with this game tonight...

You guys cannot be serious about the end jumping sections. That really wasnt all that hard. I can think of far FAR worse. Considering how easy the rest of this game was, maybe it felt off cause it was the only bits of a little challenge. Even that water moving wall part only took like 2 or 3 tries. It was nothing.
This game was amazing from beginning to end. PS2's best game by far. That ending was pretty satisfying, they could have just lamed out and ended it with a cutscene. Even the extras you unlock are a nice little reward. I still dont like the design for Kratos though, but oh well.

Except in God of War, the only combo you need is SQUARE, SQUARE, TRIANGLE (which you have at the start of the game). The only depth in God of War's combat involves timed dodging to make use of the invincibility, but the actual fighting and all the upgrades hardly matter outside of making your attacks more powerful (especially the Blade of Artemis, which is completely useless). Magic spells require zero technique to execute--you press L2. That is not depth.Quote:

OMG. I didn't want to believe the hype machine, as pretty much every popular game these days on consoles blows imo, but GoW owns. I've played about 20 minutes and *this* is what a 3D beat-em-up should be like.
Ok, so I'm in the Underworld, or Styx River, and everything was going great until I got smacked in the face with the spinning towers with blades.. Honestly, wtf is this all about? I must have fell off one of the pillars at least 15 times already, and I'm being patient. It's not even about skill anymore, its just lame fluff. GoW is still great, but I'm right at the end and the games throwin rocks at me. Sniff...
Yeah, that's the part that pissed all of us off too.
GoW is still the best game to come out this year so far, even with that road block.
So, I finally got around to playing this today, and holy shit. I can't believe I slept on it for this long.
It's good, but I'd put RE4 and GT4 above it--maybe DMC3 (the combat is significantly better), but I haven't played far enough into DMC3 to see if it really goes out of its way to make me hate it.Quote:

in DMC3 the only combo you need is triangle, triangle, triangle. whenever you're surrounded by enemies or fighting a boss like vergil, the easiest way to win is to just dodge and mash the triangle button. and viewtiful joe? once you could use the Red Hot One Hundred, nothing else mattered.Quote:

the combat in these games is as creative as you make it. you're not forced to upgrade your weapons or take full advantage of the combos, but sticking to one move/combo out of dozens of possibilities and then bitching about the lack of depth is just stupid. that goes for any of those games

God Mode is just unfair. And this comes from someone who stormed through DMC3 on DMD without getting too angry.
I finally bought the game a week ago and beat it the other night. It was a very nice experience, although the more annoying parts include the spinning blades and Ares.
I'm about an hour into God Mode, and I'm wondering if it's even worth the trouble of going through it.

I have been playing God of War for a few hours and it is a damn good game. Man, three pairs of boobies in the first 2 hours! Finally a game on PS2 with wide screen mode, this game looks very sexy. I like the gore and brutality, this game fucking earns it's Mature rating.
I finaly got around to playing a demo of the game to get a taste of it. It's an interesting game. Love the combat system in it. I just can't find the interest to play through it though. A "hack and slash" game has to get me interested and keep me interested for the long run. I dunno if I'll ever get around to playing it.
The story is pretty good for a hack 'n slash game. I am about 6 hours into it, and it keeps me wanting more. The production values are astounding, everything just looks and sounds so good. The platforming elements need to be more precise though, I have had a few cheap deaths. The camera is pretty good, haven't had a problem with not being able to see what is attacking me. Kratos is one of the few characters with what sounds like a black VA. Can anybody confirm this? He sounds kinda like Panthro from the Thundercats.Quote:

Anyone who died on Ares during his second form is bad at video games. My one and only time fighting him I never once took damage and destroyed him in a minute or so.
