The punishment in California is really light. Its a misdemeanor, not a felony AFAIK. $100 fine. I dont even think you have to appear in court. So its like a traffic ticket.

As somebody who grew up with a herione addict for a father I don't think it's wise to legalize drugs. When marijuana was legalized in Amsterdam (or Holland) herione use shot up 3 times. Marijuana may eventually make it to legal markets and I don't agree with it but I will fight with everything I have to keep stuff like herione and cocaine from becoming legal.
well herione does suck.
The question is, do the laws we have in place stop people from doing it? Is the way we handle it right now, as a nation, prevent people from falling pray to it?
Of course not. If people are willing to stuff DEAD BABIES with this shit, the demand is pretty high. Like the original post said, a closer look has to be made at WHY the demand is so high, what sociological circumstances are causing this to happen?Quote:
