bahn's actually playing this right now. From what I hear it's nothing short of sweetness.
The U.S. box is fine, I'm just glad it uses the Japanese character art. It goes without saying that the Jap GBA boxes are almost always better. Heck, my Jap SMB Advance box kicks the crap out of the U.S. art. and it's just a simple cut of the game's logo in Japanese with a sky background. But yeah, I hate the square boxes and intrusive GBA gray logo on the side of our boxes.

The vehicle stages are awesome, though, and the bosses are every bit as amazing as the best stuff Treasure has done. NAMI=boss god.
Awesome game although I'm not sure if I like it more than the original. I'm saving most of my play time for when the real thing comes out.
This game is much easier than what they had at E3. I breezed through Minion Soldier; I could barely make a dent in him back in May. I'm really busy with Sly 3 and Urban Reign, and I can't wait to really play it on the GBA Player - it is fantastic with the GC controller.
Ok, I polished off the game with Red quick impressions:
+ Graphics are downright amazing. No slowdown, great use of hardware effects, smooth as silk
+ Giant crazy segmented bosses and shitloads of them, just like the original
+ Weapon system definately more balanced. No more hoping for the right weapon
+ New move set and control system works very well; adds just a smidge of alien soldier
+ New vehicular levels are very fun
+ Great, great soundtrack
+ Set up well for score attack and time attack
and on the downside:
- Revisits almost every boss and level from the original in some way; makes the game predictable (the attack patterns are all new, but still)
- different bazooka attacks could have been balanced better
- A little short; maybe slightly longer than the original or the same length. Game save means this could have been longer (like Astroboy)
- Nothing of note to unlock; not many options
- Moon 1 is consipicuously longer and more varied than the other levels
- the touted differences in Red and Blue's games are barely noticable.
At it's best moments GSH is wildly original, but at its worst it borders on remake. But then if the worst thing I can say about a game is that it's too much like Gunstar Heroes, then I guess they're doing alright. Overall an ace effort. Better than the original in alot of ways, even.
The final boss rush is downright brutal as is. I hate to think how they did have it.Quote:

I wouldn't call it basically a remake, but parts of it toe that line. And no, that's a pretty ridiculous thing to expect from a GBA game. They'd have to actually port it over and it would take up 1/4 of the total space on the cart and really take away from the main game.Quote:
