Something about Gunstar Super Heroes just didn't click with me, which was a surprise seeing as I love the original so much. I tried, it didn't work, oh well.
Astro Boy, on the other hand, was just plain amazing, and is exactly the Treasure I'm looking for. Not as technically advanced, sure, but way too much fun.

I concur. It took me awhile to warm to Astro Boy, but then I nestled in close, and it was a beautiful union between human and game.
GSH was neat I guess. I liked the chicken gathering stage.

Astroboy benefitted tremendously from the extra time they had to polish the game for the US release. The import is much rougher. I wonder if GSH didn't launch at the same time world wide if we would have seen a better version of that as well.
And then there's me who thinks that AB and GSH are both mediocre, and Advance Guardian Heroes is the only good Treasure game on the system. Whereas AB and GSH are both derivative, AGH has its quirky game mechanic and designs its entire game around it. That to me is the most Treasure-like game of all their GBA stuff. I wasn't much of a fan of Hajime no Ippo either.
Astro Boy is anything but derivative. There's some really interesting 2D play mechanics going on there.
And I agree that AB > GSH, by a wide margin.
My order of favorites goes Gunstar Super Heroes > Advance Guardian Heroes > Astro Boy. Honestly couldn't get into Astro Boy, but love the other two.
Astroboy was certainly no more derivitive than AGH. AGH also had a good fighting engine, and excellent play mechanics, but not much going for it besides that. The difficulty curve was retarded (with the hardest level being 2, and the last boss being ridiculously easy). The graphics were shitty... It just didn't live up to its potential. I felt the same way about the Tiny Toons game (though AGH is still a lot better than that one).Quote:

Astro Boy is the second best game on GBA, behind Wario Ware.
I really like Gunstar Super Heroes, but it doesn't match up to the original game. I would have liked it more if many of the levels weren't simply remakes of the levels in the original.
