Smell it all you want. But what the hell does that prove? For the sake of argument, lets say I am a fanboy blinded by my "loyalty" for a certain company. How does that make my statement false? That changes alot of things. I for one really hope they don't put it anywhere else - Gamecube doesn't seem the right fit, and putting a game dependant on huge areas with tons of textures on the PS2 would seem to be inviting disaster, especially in light of VF4. Presumably Shenmue III would be close to the graphic level of that game, but with larger environments.
On the other hand, Suzuki's said he's not happy with Shen II being on XB; presumably he wants the largest audience possible for his pet project, and that says PS2. My guess is they haven't made a decision yet, and would wait to see how part II fares, and how the Japanese XB market shakes out. And how much $ MS offers them.

Going by this, maybe we can hope for Shenmue IV to appear on GC, so that it can have a chapter on each console for America. DC, XB, PS2, GC... GBA! Or maybe Nuon next...
Yu is on record as a PS2 hater though. My best guess would be Shenmue 3 appearing on the cube, which seems to be Yu's system of choice at the moment. Though it depends how far along the game is now, what the market condition will be like when it nears release, etc. Maybe it'll end up on the PS3. :p
