New Shining Force game would be great, but Xbox is the last platform I would expect it on (though the first I would want it on). New JSR game would be heavenly though, so I'll just hope it's true.

Man, Ninja Gaiden Xbox alone was enough excitement for me. I can't take much more of the good news. :)

every game announced/shown so far at E3 in Insider, have been shown elsewhere, and already known. Not even a quarter of that list is anywhere on IGN, so either 1-there's a LOT of announcments being held back, 2-they are all behind closed doors and top secret, or 3- as I suspect, total bs.

Mode: There's a ton of stuff on that list that wasn't on the original list - like, most of it. Which is why you guys are right, this has "WAY to good to be true" written all over it. Who knows, E3's hardly even begun, and there's always suprise announcements, maybe a few of those'll turn out to be true after all. (Although I'd settle for just XB VF4 Evo)

Exactly. The PS2 is on hold, but Contra (who cares how it looks now? If it plays like Contra, what can touch that?) Rygar, Silent Hill 3 and Legend of Dragoon make it too desirable to pass up. I'm strapped for cash too, but I'm about to pull the trigger on that Xbox. I can't pass up Shenmue III, Panzer Dragoon & Ninja Gaiden and still call myself a man. Who cares if it's still around in 3 years?

So if they can do that well on 16 bit, doesn't it stand to reason they'd get more out of the most powerful hardware? Not that it matters a great deal, since GC can still do awesome things (those character models in Smash Bros. are GODLY), but I'd rather see Sega do their thing with the best tools available rather than another imperfect port a-la VF4.

Hey, I won't tell you how to spend your money. But Panzer Dragoon, Sega Rally 3, Shenmue III, Steel Batallion, Outrun, Ninja Gaiden, Jet Set Radio, Shin Megami Tensei Nine and the fact that every game that's appeared on both the 'box and PS2 has come out significantly better on XB is enough reason to justify a purchase for me.

First of all, this has been making the rounds for a few days and the source is always another message board. I have a feeling that at least some of this list is BS. Probably concocted by by someone for any number of reasons. I can see someone making up Phantasy Star V for PS2 just to drive other people insane....

But I can't see someone making up Wonderboy! Why would someone go thru the trouble to make up a Wonderboy fake game? If that game is not real I'll be so disappointed. Wonderboy is one of my absolute all-time classic favourite series, and a GBA incarnation would be the fulfillment of something I have been hoping for for many years. I just don't see why someone would make that up, because it's not like many people would be riled up about it one way or the other. Heh...

Oh well, I am hoping a lot of these games are indeed reality. :)

Shining Force has already been announced by Sega, but no system has been named. I think the original incarnation of this listed no system with SF, so I think someone just added the Xbox to suit their own needs. My guess for SF would be GCN or GBA, based on Shining Soul existing on GBA already, and also there have been Sega / Camelot / Gamecube RPG rumours for a while............. but even so, if it ended up on XB or PS2 I'd not be too surprised either.

Oh well. I just hope it comes out and it's good........... and speaking of Shining Force, I hope Shining Soul is announced for North America!!!!

Okay, I felt bad enough for jumping off the fence and buying PS2 for Virtua Fighter 4, only to find out a better version was coming to XB (I guess I should've known, but I wasn't going to wait around to find out otherwise). I only own three games for the damned system (Rez and Maximo round out the collection), and I don't have much interest in anything else out on the shelves right now. Contra looks very intersting to me, as does GunGrave, so I still have a reason to keep it.

But now I feel like I have to run out and buy an XBox. I reluctantly passed up GunValkyrie and the sequel to one of my favorite games of all time, Jet Set Radio. And with Panzer Dragoon Orta, Sega Rally, ToeJam & Earl (!!) and the speculation that Street of Rage is being developed (and had been hinted at since forever) for XB just puts me over the flucking edge!

Strangely enough, I'm not that interested in Sega's GC offerings yet, but I'm sure that will also change.

I don't know if I can afford to support both PS2 and XBox (and maybe even GCN). You have to be rich to be a Sega fanatic nowadays!

Yeah, same here. I expected a GameCube version.
Maybe PS2 was out of the question because there is too much RPG competition there (one RPG in a small pond will probably sell better).

Not me, man. I love sequels. I'm the guy who thought Street Fighter II Turbo was a necessary upgrade. I'm the guy who can tell you the exact differences between King of Fighters 96, 97 and 98. I buy NBA 2K every frickin' year just for the rosters and a few new post moves. I think it's cool that Silent Hill 2, Onimusha and MGS 2 are all seeing improved ports, even if only slightly. If I love a game and I want more of it, I love the thought that more is on the way, shinier than ever. Sure, plenty of sequels don't work out, but you don't have to buy them, and it doesn't make the previous game worse.

Not to mention sega seem to make more games than nintendo period. (It's easy for companies like nintendo for example, to be original, under all that secrecy and time given between titles. Not to mention the sliding release dates and delays) I am a huge nintendo fan but I also respect sega just as much if not more. As much as I love waiting 4 years for my sequels (and I know that time is going to great use when it is in competent hands) I also want something to play every year or every 2 years of the gamefranchises of which I am a big fan of.

I'm also a fan of original stuff and can't pimp the games enough to my friends. For exmaple Super Monkey Ball (an original game if there ever was one - if a little influenced by the classic marble madness) was the sole reason I bought my Gamecube, not any of the first gen nintendo or other third party stuff out at the time. (eg luigi's mansions and waverace was more a rental for me) Whenever someone asks me about which game to get for GC as thier first game, I point them towards this little gem and can't stress enough how addicting it is. They don't believe me, so then I bother to show them, and they become a convert. Anyway lay off sega, they've obviously got enough fans to cater to that they must have thier hands full as it is. (Super Monkey Ball 2 for example :D )

But also in agreement with Strider, as much as I want original stuff as the next jaded gamer, sequels are fine if those developers really seek to improve on thier already-great games. (bit worried about that Crazi Taxi franchise though)

The list seems somewhat made up. Mysteria (Riglord Saga) was'nt exactly a big seller for Sega. I loved the game though. Sega GT is'nt 2002 it's 2003, maybe that was a typo. Tempo would be a great game for the GBA, but I could'nt see it as a legit game for the consoles. Did'nt Peter Moore scoff at Streets of Rage, as a legitimate game for 3-d gaming? Not like he's the guy making the games though. Where's Nights!!! Maybe the GBA version via PSO is a hint of Nights coming to GBA.

There was a sequal to the game on the Saturn in Japan. Have you tried it ??

I don't play Japanes Import RPG's. While I have missed out on some great ones, without the ability to read Japanese language, the game just can't be enjoyed in it's true form.

I bought Mystaria when it came out in the US. I finished the game, but there was one level that I could'nt access. It was a level inside of a hill. For some reason, that level was'nt required to win the game, but there must have been a way to enter it?

As for the games that were announced, Sega already presented their plans in terms of the their development schedule; and the majority of the games will be on the PS2...with the Gamecube coming in 2nd and the X-Box a close 3rd. Also, remember that the majority of the games that are being shown at E3 that are on the X-Box were all being developed before the launch of the system, but after seeing where the market is (and will be) Sega was clear in showing where they will be showing most of their support. The games that'll be coming out in 2003 will be mostly on the PS2 and Gamecube, with the X-Box maintaining the Sega Sports and online titles. All of the original content that's coming out on the X-Box right now is not going to happen after this initial cycle ends. Truth.

I for one really hope they don't put it anywhere else - Gamecube doesn't seem the right fit, and putting a game dependant on huge areas with tons of textures on the PS2 would seem to be inviting disaster, especially in light of VF4. Presumably Shenmue III would be close to the graphic level of that game, but with larger environments.

On the other hand, Suzuki's said he's not happy with Shen II being on XB; presumably he wants the largest audience possible for his pet project, and that says PS2. My guess is they haven't made a decision yet, and would wait to see how part II fares, and how the Japanese XB market shakes out. And how much $ MS offers them.

Exactly. I've seen in an interview where they said that "they want the game (Shenmue III) to be on the system that will give it the largest possible audience" or something to that effect.

Going by this, maybe we can hope for Shenmue IV to appear on GC, so that it can have a chapter on each console for America. DC, XB, PS2, GC... GBA! Or maybe Nuon next...

Yu is on record as a PS2 hater though. My best guess would be Shenmue 3 appearing on the cube, which seems to be Yu's system of choice at the moment. Though it depends how far along the game is now, what the market condition will be like when it nears release, etc. Maybe it'll end up on the PS3. :p
