Phantasy Star Online is about as much of a real Phantasy Star game as Star Fox Adventures is a real Star Fox game. They were both totally average, everyday games that had a license stuck on them to try and make them interesting.

Super Monkey Ball 1 and Shenmue are the only great things Sega has ever done. Ever. And Shenmue is highly arguable. I don't like any of their Genesis games and just about their entire DC library was Japanophile garbage with more style than substance.

Think about it.

Sonic Team could barely do PSO right with four players. They've only recently gotten a clue with PSO Blue for the PC with server-side character storage (gameplay is still boring as hell though despite all the new content). More than that though, they still haven't figured out how to release an f'n online game without a bunch of game breaking glitches and bugs that ruin everything for the legit players because the lazy fucks won't fix their broken ass game.

With this knowledge, do you honestly think Sonic Team could pull off a REAL MMORPG?

That's like saying Capcom should just stick with Ryu vs Ken in all of their fighting games because they still can't balance their games properly.

No Capcom should get rid of Ryu and Ken because they still can't balance their games.

Monster Hunter sucked, but at least the gameplay was more interesting than PSO.

Sonic Team needs to pull it's head out of it's ass before they think about making a real MMO.
