Shallow or not, I think Otogi is incredible. Panzer Orta was the first game that made me need an Xbox. My copy of Jet Set Future/Sega GT 2002 was stolen before I could put any quality time behind them, but I for the hour I played Jet Set, I fell in love. Sega GT 2002, on the other hand...
Personally, I think the DC had (and still has) one of the strongest, most quality game line ups ever. I rarely agree with EGM, but I think it was John Davidson (sp) who said that the DC had one of the most highest rated lineups he'd seen, and I agree. Yes, much of it was niche... but I really don't give a fuck.
Now as for their games of late... what little time I spent with Sonic Heroes (Xbox rev), I liked it enough. It wasn't Sonic Adventure, but I personally think Sonic survived the transition from 2D to 3D better than Mario has, in the sense that the Sonic games feel like Sonic games. Mario 64 is certainly an incredible game, but where are the mushrooms? Where are the fireballs? Granted, I actually like how Mario is now one size, but why throw the mushrooms out completely? Couldn't they have been health pickups?
I'm looking forward to playing OutRun 2 and Gunvalkyrie. As for their systems, I never had a 32X, Master System, or Sega CD, but the Genesis was the first system I imported on, and while come 2000 my PS I bought in '96 was completely fried, my Saturn was still trucking... even though I played it more. The Dreamcast was and is my favorite system. Each Sega system I had, I owned at least 25 games for.
Yeah, I'm a fanboy... Big deal... Games aren't about some elitist shit, there about having fun, and damnit, their games are fun. I don't deny that they have done some stupid shit, nor do I deny that they've simply not been doing the numbers as of late... but I DON'T think all of that is their fault. Orta is a quality title... yet it's too different. Yes, they sold Visual Concepts, which I don't agree with... but lets face it, VC all but was Sega Sports. Football is HUGE, and if they simply can't afford them, why not let them go do work for someone who can?
The thing with the DC's lineup is there's nothing besides JGR, VOOT and Chu Chu Rocket that isn't found better elsewhere. Unless you're a HUGE shooter fan.
That's great and all, but I'm not going to re-buy every title I already have on the DC. Most of the ports were poorly done anyways.Quote:

Neo Contra wasnt spectacular, and was a bit on the short side but the attempt was there.Same with Nanobreaker. And of course we have the Metal Gears,The Gameboy 'vanias,Boktai, Silent Hill, and ZOE. Konami isnt sitting on its cards, and is at least attempting to do something with what it has.
I am disappointed in Sega like the rest of you,but I'm not stuck up enough to boycott them and everything they touch because its cool.If they make something awesome, fun, and original then fuck, I'll play it. Hell, give me a NEW Golden Axe, Shadow Dancer, Alex Kidd, whatever - just try to give me something I havent seen, not Sonic Adventure vs. Shadow racing Xtreme or whatever.
(Hopefully, Phantasy Star Universe will be different the way PSO is to the original Phantasy Star series.)
'Doshi, I know how much you love PSO,but I just think its been milked for all its worth, unless Sega makes it truly "Mega' ly' Massive" and takes it to the next step.
But, yeah like I'm trying to say, I dont hate Sega, and I'm no fanboy, I'm just a simple gamer.Make something that captures my attention and I'll be happy. I dont wish for them to crash and burn, then there will be no chance of ever seeing anything good come out of them, and while right now the hope that some good games will come out of Sega is slim as shit, there is still the possibility of them making something great.
So quit fucking hating and being all elitist, doesnt anyone root for the underdog anymore?... ;)
Konami's been a better company than Sega since about 1986. In fact, Konami's been the best Japanese publisher since about 1986.Quote:
