It looks like Konami decided to make a re-mix version by taking stages from Contra Hard Corps and Part 3 instead of a straight port of the SNES classic, kind of like what Capcom is doing with Ghouls and Ghosts for the GBA.

Yup, that's exactly what's going on here. But, I like it! Combining the two best Contra games into one game is outstanding. I wonder what will be left out, though..Quote:

Let's see how many GBA games kick the shit out of their PS2 big brothers...
Kinda' odd. Hard Corps had a totally different visuall style, and the Contra III sprite really sticks out like a sore thumb in those levels. Oh well, much better than a straight port. Maybe we'll see an original level or two?

I like the Hard Corps engine much more than the SNES' Alien Wars engine. The response is faster and it doesn't feel like you're moving in a dream. The contrast is also better and the picture is generally sharper in Hard Corps. You can see this in the pics, the genesis levels have a better palette. Let's hope they do more to interpolate better between the two games or just drop the Alien Wars altogether.
Anyway, very cool game. Can only be improved, never degraded.

Much rather have some type of "remixed" game than a straight port, so thats good news.
I might have to bust out the originals tonite because it's been a while...
Where did you hear that it was going to have levels from Contra Hard Corps?? The preview on IGN said it was just a straight port of Contra III with one new level added.
