Here is a link to installers for Devhook
http://www.psp-hacks.com/category/40 - The Ultimate Installer contains the firmware files as well as some custom files.
If you dont want the custom files, you can download the basic version http://planetpsp.org/downloads.php?cat_id=71 (Devhook .46 FULL PACKAGE). I'm personally still on 0.45. May upgrade to 0.46 so I can flash some files onto the PSP to speed up loading of emulated firmware. This doesnt touch any of the critical/important files on the PSP. Its kind of like a partition.
You can also customize your emulated firmare by overwriting a couple of files. For mine, when I emulate 2.71, mine says "PlayStation Portable" in a robotic female voice when it shows the Sony intro (when you first boot up) and it has the Prince of Persia blood slashes when it shows the PSP logo when a game boots up.
Holy cow I can't believe how easy that was and it really freaking works!!!! I'm out to get me a new mem stick and some new games!!!!
See..it wasnt that bad. Now you can enjoy the latest games and your homebrew at the same time. Just remember to copy the Devhook files onto the new memory stick.
BTW, there are some mods where it lets you reboot back to 1.50 firmware without have to shut down the PSP.
Has anyone here tried making PMP AVC movies?
The PMP mp4 mod worked very well and encoding was amazingly simple, but the PMP Mod only ran at 333 MHz, and a 2-hour video would usually burn up a single battery charge.
In theory the PMP AVC Mod is the preferred choice because it plays video at the normal 222 MHz, and the filesizes are smaller.. except 1.) the videos take forever to encode (which I can accept), and 2.) ALL of the encoding softwares I've tried are just horribly buggy garbage. XVID4PSP, AVItoPMP, Mediacoder, PMPVLC, Staxrip.. they all suck and can't encode DVD VOB files to save their lives.
Are there ANY satisfactory PMP AVC encoders that I've missed? And is there a forum or site that focuses on making PMP videos?
I had the PMP Mod on my memory stick but removed it cuz I didnt have any PMP formatted movies. If you want to read up on the encoders, try visiting other PSP sites such as psp-news.dcemu.co.uk, pspupdates.qj.net. The may be able to help you answer your questions.
Speaking of different apps burning up differing amounts of juice, when oh when are we going to get a more powerful battery for this thing?
We did. A 2200mAh Sony battery that they released a couple months ago. Thats why I also use external battery packs or charge it when I sleep if I know the batter is low.Quote:

So i can download dev hook and play newer realeased games? Freakin awesome. I was ready to just buy another PSP, but if I can save the money and not have to have two systems it's teh win for me.
Yes. Just install Devhook on to the memory stick, load up Devhook, emulate the firmware and play your games either by loading it through Devhook or through the XMB after the firmware has been emulated. Remember, you need 1.50 firmware inorder to use DHQuote:
