I must of missed 'em. I mean, some of the N64 games were fun multiplayer, but I've yet to find a "great" rassilin game.

Here's an idea: why not give SEGA the WWE lisence and have them use a modified VF4. Essentially, it would be like Wolf vs. Jeffery matches. That would get my $$.

I still think WWF No Mercy is the best wrestling game on the market even if it has some technical issues. Ive been playing the game for what....2 years now, and It's still just as much fun as it was when I first popped it in. The only thing missing from WWF No Mercy was a lack of gimmick matches and the slowdown in 4 player mode. Both of which could have easily ben fixed for WMX8. That's why this comes as such a huge dissapointment to me....
Bleh, the Smackdown games are pure and utter Shite. I can't understand how anyone can even enjoy those games. They are so stiff, and just plain blah. WCW Revenge and WWF Wrestlemania 2000 are still the best wrestling games you can buy, and both are for N64. Sure Smackdown may have the graphics down, and little details like that, but they play like a dead mule. And the "realistic" career mode is a joke, I just love having to watch the computer wrestle it self. Smackdown games suck, Yukes sucks. Sword of the Berzerk is a good game, seems like the only thing Yukes has done correctly.
Big reminder here to all who may have forgot. Yukes made Tutoken Rusedto 3. And since I can't spell at the moment. New Japan 3 for playstation. That game is the flat out best. In that game, Yukes implemented a complete reversal system. Which I thought originally they were going to bring over into the Smackdown series but didn't.
If the news report of an increased reversal system means they are bringing a complete reversal system back. Trust me, you can rejoice now. Cause there will be no more hogness in wrestling games. Aki wrestling games are great but Yukes New Japan 3 is the tried and true king. That is the one thing holding back the Aki games is their lack of a complete reversal system. If you guess correctly you can reverse every move your opponent does to you. In the Aki games sure you could duck and block attacks but you couldn't actually reverse on those moves and you can in New Japan 3.
So, if your dissappointed don't be cause WMX8 could very well be the return of the King. If you doubt me pick up a copy of New Japan 3 for import PSX. Should be found cheap, trust me you won't be dissappointed.

But, while on the same subject, I wholly believe that Giant Gram 2000 is the greatest single player wrestling game of ALL TIME (not that it was only a single player game, it's just that other games do multiplayer better, such as FPD or VPW2)
And, Mr.B is SO right about TR3 having a great reversal system, when I heard that Yukes was doing the Smackdown! games I was very pleased. Of course, then they actually came out, and it was WAY watered down.
On a side note, I was in my local import shop yesterday and noticed that they had Toukon Retsuden for the GBA! I don't have a GBA anymore, so I didn't get it (obviously) but has any one here picked it up? I never even knew it was coming out.
And, has anyone tried All Star Wrestling 2 for the Japanese PS2? The first one was crap-tacular, but the second one is supposedly much improved.
I had New Japan 4 for DC. Was 3 better? I never could quite get a handle on how that game played in terms of doing a variety of moves. Also, Yukes did not make the Smackdown games, THQ did. They just bought the engine from Yukes and modified it as they saw fit. Yukes only gets credit becuase they did the engine.
THQ is a publisher, not a developer.
TR3 WAS better than TR4. Or maybe it just seemed like it was to me. Ya see, all they did in 4 was make it more hi-res, they kept all the same animations, etc. as the old game, and added like, 6 new moves, and overall it just seemed like a weak-ass sequel.
NOW, if you wanna talk best TR game ever, look no further than TR2 for N64. Completely different than TR2 for PSOne, this game was the "true" TR sequel that we didn't get on DC. That was the first game to ever have a "season" mode of sorts, which actually had a bit of story to it as well. You could injure your opponents in the season (for example, if you kept putting armbars on a guy forever before ending the match, or if say, you keep piledriving a guy on the outside, he has to sit out a few matches in the season, and when he comes back, you feud with him) and if you were particularly nasty, nWo would ask you to join them. You could say yes, and then, whenever your music hit, it would start with "n...W...O!" or, you could say no, and the nWo would feud with you. Awesome fuckin game, I wish I still had my copy...

All Japan featuring Virtua is the name of the first game. It's for Saturn.
Giant Gram : All Japan 2 is the name of the sequel, it's for DC, and still has Virtua Fighter characters.
Giant Gram 2000 : All Japan 3 is the name of the third, and best version (DC only) but it does not have Virtua Fighter characters.

IMO, there is no better wrestling game than TR3. My only question is how are the All japan games compared to the greatness of TR3??
Cause if they can hang and are on par with TR3, I too will be headed to Ebay.

WWF Raw 2 for Xbox is looking mighty promising though......then again so was WMX8 and it isn't turning out so great.

I still remember seeing that first Raw video, where Rock, and Austin were going at it, then HHH music hits, and he runs down the ramp (thinking hes going to save the Rock). After Ausin/HHH stare each other down for a sec, then they BOTH start whupping Rock...man, I just about died.

I really don't get why Aki is currently out of the picture, and I too don't understand how these wrestling games are now getting WORSE again. You take Wrestlemania 2K/No Mercy, you slap them on the GameCube, update the graphics engine, get more characters onscreen, give us true quality Titantron movies and music, and that by itself would sell itself. That's all I ever wanted, and it seems like such a simple thing to do.
I wish I had the power to make games, because I'd love to make a "real" wrestling game. Take those engines, add some enhancements, and then slap the game up online, where you can get "hired" and be part of the show, or you can connect just to watch. Can you imagine having virtual feds that put on a weekly show you could just connect to and watch? How hardcore would that be?

I still don't get why all of you are surprised. Just because it was on a Nintendo system does not mean it would be like those games. It is being made by Yukes, therefore it'll be like one of their games. That's like saying that VF4 on PS2 would play like a Tekken game because it was on PS2. It's a shame they aren't making them different, especially since they are going by different name systems, but I guess it will have to do. I do not own a game cube, but I can see where you are all coming from. I say just keep those N64s :D

Eternal Darkness it is. I can't stadn the Smackdown series..the controls were just horrible, it never felt like you were actually playing. I'm with Shidoshi..bring No Mercy to Cube with jacked graphics and I would have bought it.
Oh well, between ED and Warcraft III, I'll have more than enough to play.
