PocketMac has released a new program for $9.95 that allows Apple's iTune songs to be downloaded onto Sony's PSP flash cards. To me, this is a major victory for Sony. I don't own an iPod, but I am very tempted to download this piece of software and get started.
Except when people get a sizeable iTunes library and find out the PSP memory cards that can actually hold a damn cost more than an iPod with way more space.
I don't think that's an issue. Carrying one device is better than carrying two or three. While I think DVD playback on the PS2 and Xbox is worthless, the same doesn't apply when everything has to fit in a pocket, rather than an entertainment center.

There is no mention of this program converting AAC music into MP3 music. A number of iTunes users are now using AAC as their preferred codec.
It doesn't do anything about allowing the use of iTunes Music Store purchased songs on the PSP.
Nobody with half a brain would actually use the PSP as their main portable music player.
Yeah, iPod is doomed when the PSP has a music interface worth a damn, and I can just toss it in my back pocket without worrying about it getting broken to all hell, or actually fitting in the first place, and it has enough space to hold a decent amount of songs, and...Quote:

I'll be continuing to listen to music on the free iPod shuffle I got from Gratis long after I get my free PSP. A PSP is not going to fit in my coat's inside pocket and weigh less than 4 quarters.Quote:

I still don't know why people would pay 99 cents for lossy files with any kind of protection, though. And I say this as an iTunes fan, an owner of two iPods, and a Mac user. I like the free iTunes downloads with the Pepsi promotion, but if I'm going to buy music, I'm probably going to grab the CD and rip it however I please, as many times as I please.
Sell your iPods, it's all over.
I wouldn't go that far, but I don't have an iPod so the psp will be a temporary solution.
