I can't wait to pick this game up either :D I'm gonna pick it up today, along with Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds (damn them for delaying Morrowind again!) before school. Gah, sitting through school knowing the games are just sitting there is gonna be tough, but at least I've got all Memorial Day weekend to bust through em :D
Well, I got some time to play through first couple levels, up to the first Boss battle.
Visually the game is pretty good, enemies have lots of details, and I love how the various body parts of the zombies can be shot off, like arms, legs and heads, and they are still coming. These zombies are much tougher than their RE relatives and faster too :)
Controls work well, characters move fast, and you control the direction with left analog, and aim with right, and shooting done with right trigger, where you jump with left. I used Defender girl cop, with 6 round colt, and katana, where DJ was using Avenger biker dude with shotgun and axe. Well, Colt is not the best weapon to use, even with 6 rounds its not powerful enough, and reloading takes too long, but Katana kicks ass especially when surrounded by zombies, you go into combos cutting them left and right, and getting life orbs in the process. Defender has a good speed and strenght, and good character to use. My fist magic edge was healing, so it was even more helpfull. :)
DJ's Avenger has power, but also little slow, so its better to use him from the distance shooting everything in sight :)
So far, the game is fun, with mission objectives like save the civilians from zombies, or clear specific part of the city from the undead.
Zombies have few different variations, and we also see couple other monster types so far, as those damn exploding spider heads, and big blue gargoyle golems.
You can pick up various power up weapons, like machine guns, shotguns, and more, and use them as long as you have enough ammo. You regual weapons, have infinite ammounts of bullets, and weaker then their power up counterparts.
The boss battle was quite interesting, and it took place in the school yard, with the scool bus on fire after it crashed into scool wall in the background. It was quite a tough battle, especially with boss doing its special move that sends the impact wave in all directions around him causing a big damage, plus there are zombies and spider heads on the battle field as well.
Well, So far we had quite a good time, and I'm looking forward playing more later tonight. We will replay this boss fight, and try to kick his ass, instead of him kicking ours :)

The best thing to do for the boss is run. Pull a gun on him (preferably the power shot-gun...that baby rips sh*t up) and fire at him while you're running away. I chose the Avenger to play my first time through, and the boss couldn't catch me, so you'll be safe with the defender. Also, before you take your first shot at the boss, for the love of God, clear out the zombies. It's so much less of a headache when you only have to worry about the boss. The machine gun was made for this. And, lucky you, if you're out of bullets, there's one waiting for you next to the slide in the playground. The playground is on the side of the school that the bus didn't crash into. And just incase you didn't notice, there's a health glyph on the ground next to the bus. That comes in handy if your character (Avenger) can't heal.

We did you power up shotguns, but we barely had any ammo for them left from the previous levels, so I had to battle him close and personal with defender, and it wasnt a very wise choice, as his attacks will hurt you alot in close up battle.
Well, I usually play balls-to-the-wall concerning power-ups, but for some reason, the Avenger's standard shot-gun was working perfectly for me. So I had amassed a metric ass load of power-ups. I think when I got to the boss, my power shot-gun was full, as well as my machine gun only needing one more cartridge...which I got in the playground. I did try to get up close and personal like with him...but after that first slam, I backed off real quick.Quote:

Hey, how similar is this to Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance in terms of multi-player? Same kind of thing, except modern settings & firearms?
