I know.I was hoping for a "restart" on the origin myself. I seriously think it would be better, as people going into the theater to see this are going to be confused by the way this thing starts off without an extensive narrative.Is the average person going to know and remember what happened between the third and second movies?

Which is one of the things that confuses me-I've seen pictures of the old Kent farm,the ship baby Clark lands on earth in,and some behind the scenes planning footage of a young Clark super speeding through the wheat fields.So Singer plans on starting off with telling the story about a young Clark then jumps right into the grey area between the first two movies + Lois with her little one in tow? The actors playing the parts dont even look old enough to have a history together.Either way,sounds like too much jumping around.

Well then, the show should've never been made if the producers true vision for it couldnt be realized. I doubt whoever cobbled this show together had anything resembling vision though. And poor special effects are no excuse for crappy writing.Hell, the fact that this thing sucked in the effects department should have been a flag that the writing or something else should be improved to hold the show afloat.

I've tried I just don't like it maybe it's because in all the comics and everything they've always kinda said his time in smallville even though he had those powers was allways for the most part a typical child hood, and the only ones who knew of his powers or had any inkling of them were his parents and Lana

and they have touched on Luthors past a bit more in the comics and I guess I shouldn't say NEVER for luthor being there because there was a comic showing Luthor was in smallville for all of a week when they were like 7 years old

I guess I'm just very anal on how the character is handled and portrayed, I don't want Teen drama superboy

see there was a comic I forget when it came out a few years back maybe that dealt with Clark Learning and Growing, and it took place after college when he traveled the world as a young reporter, meeting people, like shit i forget the one person it took place in africa and it was a small group of people that were against the opression of some government there and him meeting them and seeing them and learning from them, and it was just all these little stories of clark interacting with these people who had a purpose a high ideal to fight for, the things that he would later be fighting for as Superman, to me that would be a fucking awesome time to tell a story of, because it was developing the character he would become, it put into him that drive to help the innocent, that feeling that he has these powers and he has to use them to help people and can't just stand on the side lines, it taught him to really value human life, kind of all the things the kents were trying to teach into him but it's different when you experience these things and learn them on your own then having your parents teach them

and it really just gave this depth to the character and a deep understanding of the roots of who Superman was, he wasnt just a strong superhero he had this purpose to him this drive that went deeper than being able to fly really fast

I don't now I hold Superman in high regard, like I said he's my favorite superhero character of all time, but I think that's because I read alot of the writers that took him deeper as a character, that he wasnt just his super powers, that he was a person with feelings and emotions, and that he wasn't doing what he did because his parents were killed, or to avenge some wrong done to him, or because he was in a freak accident, he's out there saving the world because it's the right thing to do, that even if he didn't have super powers he's the type of person who would be risking his own life to help others anyway

that to me is the main driving force of the character, and I think Byrne and Jurgens just nailed that perfectly, they also tended to have a Superman that enjoyed his powers, that took pleasure in flying over Metropolis and seeing the city from so high up and the wind in his hair

Its almost weird that Singer is going to such lengths to try and tie Superman Returns to the older movies.Does he just think that it wouldnt survive a retelling or lack of reference to the originals? That to me almost hints bad script/bad writing like he has to stand on someone elses shoulders to make his project work.

I'm sorry but I just see no hope for this turning out to be a good superman movie theyre changing the characters (mostly lois) too much and t heyre just going in the wrong direction with it IMHO

Like I said the Ideal superman the Superman that everything should be based off of is the Byrne Superman, that was set into place right after the crisis on infinite earths thing and anytime DC does a Reset it always goes back to everything Byrne laid out for a reason because it's the best

Alex Ross movie poster - awesome. He did those paintings for the opening credits of Spiderman 2.

That poster looks awesome. If only there were a bigger pic of it.
