Yep, thats from SS alright. Perhaps this meens there might be some SS characters hidden somewhere in the game?
It's looking good.
That Neo-Geo World stage from KOF'95 is one of my favorites. It has some brilliant BGM.
Sweet!
Easily one of my top most wanted games this year!
Have they given an offcial release date yet?
8/8/02.
Get those pre-orders ready...
Thanks for the link Jae Hoon, I'm looking forward to this even though I heard it isn't that great of a KOF. Now all I need to do is get out of debt so I can afford it when it is released...
I highly doubt it. Some earlier screens showed backgrounds from previous King of Fighters and Garou Densetsu games. One of which was my favorite from KoF'95 - the Ryuuko no Ken elevator stage.Quote:

But, maybe some SS/FF/AoF/older KoF characters will appear as Another Strikers, though. Like how in King of Fighters '99: Evolution for DC, Seth and Vanessa premiered for the first time, along with alternate universe characters like Syo Kirishima (an early Kyo Kusanagi character design), and Fio Germi from Metal Slug appeared.
Anyway...
This will probably be the last DC game I get.
Heh, then I'll have KoF'95-'00 on Sega consoles.

KOF 95 has the best soundtrack in the series I think. I love damn near all of the songs on that one.
I wish this wasn't the worst game in the series, and that 2001 wasn't coming on PS2; then I could be more excited about this. Er, sorry...rain's finished. Continue your parade.
If it helps any, KoF 2k1 is the first KoF I really enjoy, and the only one I want to buy, but there's no announcement to help me yet. :(Quote:

All I've seen of this game is the new character that is a rip of Tetsuo from Akira, and I'm very excited. Where can I get info on 2001? How does it differ from the others in the KOF series?Quote:

All the info you'll ever needQuote:

Check the KOF2K1 page in the Arcade section to see the cast
The endings
Some adjustments here and there, big difference is the Capcom vs SNK-style ratio system.Quote:

I'm finding it really hard that it could disappoint me more than 97 and 99.Quote:

99 I can understand, although I liked the new characters (except Bao and Whip - they took out badass Heidern for her?) and Kyo's new non-schoolboy duds. But what's wrong with '97? The introduction of your favourite character to the series, what's generally thought to be the best story of the series, and possibly the best 2D fighting engine ever (98 had some slight improvements), imo.Quote:

I love KoF, so when I say "worst of the series", that still puts 2000 above most other games in my eyes.
Thanks for the links, Freeter. How do you guys feel about the 3D backgrounds in KOF Dream Match on DC? Also, Dream Match is just KOF 98 with new backgrounds, right? Dream Match is the only KOF I've ever played, being that no arcade around here carries a KOF game. Doesn't KOF 2001 use a different graphics engine, or is the character designer new (or both)? I remember seeing pics of 2001 a while back, and someone here mentioned the characters being done by a different person. Also, who is this K guy? I didn't find out much about him, except he has been the new main character since KOF 99.
Oh MAN! I can almost make out the characters!
Damn, what is with the thumbnails? Eh, doesn't matter... screens... bah!
Need the game, already...
I would give a nut for a Metal Slug on DC, but regardless KOF 2000 looks nice. Retro backgrounds was cool and cost effective idea. *-neo

Lemme take a quick stab. Anything I talk about half-assed will prob be elaborated on by someone else.
3d backrounds in Dream match.--Doesn't bother me, they look almost identical to the 2d ones(I did have 1 problem ith them in "Evolution" since they took out the rain sequence in one of the levels which looked awesome in the arcade).
DM=Kof 98 with new backrounds?--Sorta, it's mostly 98, the backrounds have been made 3d and some of the moves have been tweaked or changed. No major changes. The best part of Dream match would have to be the addition of the mega cool animated intro exclusive to DM.
Kof2k1=new graphics engine?--No, it's pretty much the same as it's always been.
Is the character designer new (or both)? I remember seeing pics of 2001 a while back, and someone here mentioned the characters being done by a different person.--Well the character art in winning poses and select portraits are done by a new( guynew to KoF, he did the art for Garou) although they pretty much blow(Some would argue they are "fresh" and "unique", yeah whatever). The in game sprites are mostly the same as they were all the way back in 96.
Who is this K' character?-- I've never really even paid much attention. He had something to do with the NESTS and cloning but the story was so lame I don't even remember.

2k won't dissapoint you as much as 99 (It's pretty much the same game except it feels more finished). 2001; however, may actually make you cry....
Thanks, Chojin!
I hardly played Dream Match when I got it a few months back. Now I'm getting back into it, and I really like it. Hopefully by the time I've gotten it all down, more KOF 2001 info will arise. I didn't look at the ending Freeter provided, since I don't want to spoil anything later on. However, does Dream Match have any character specific endings other than that pic at the end of your team holding a trophy?

Nope. Dream Match is exactly as it's named, a dream match. Otherwise the characters that die din 97 wouldn't be there. ;)
Almost. There are character specific pictures that show up during the credits depending on what team you used. There's alot of them, and some of them are quite cool (like Shermie topless at the beach, Ralf & Blue Mary playing baseball), but all black & white. Check Gamefaqs for a list of all the different character combinations. There's also a hidden art gallery if you have the Neo Geo Pocket link cable and, y'know, a NGPC with KoF R2.Quote:

And from what I can tell from the somewhat vague backstory form KoF 99, K' is either a clone of Kyo, the brother of Whip, a clone of Krizalid (or Krizalid's a clone of him). 2000 seemed to expand on the NESTS storyline, so it may explain things better, but I didn't get all the endings.
And KoF Dream Match is the best game ever made - congratulations on discovering it.
Thanks again for your input guys. So Dream Match is the best of the KOF series? Even better than 2001?

Actually you don't need any of that. You can just go check it out any time you want. And to unlock stuff just play through the game until you've got 100points with each character(This takes forever and forces you to beat the game with every single character several times a piece, so get ready to use even your most hated players).
