Well EA says Coppola is a liar, who are you gonna believe?
Satan, who says that this game is totally not canon.
Videogame designers suck. They think they understand story, but when you see something like this you really get the feeling they haven't a clue what the fuck they're doing.
Yes, it could very well be a lie, but Coppola has no reason to lie.
The quote about the family just shooting each other for the length of the game supports my anger.
The Godfather videogame is little more than a stupid Mafia clone, which proves that the game designers have absolutely no fucking clue what makes The Godfather movie so great. This is as dumb as Acclaim turning every single movie of the early 1990s into a cruddy platformer.
To be fair, True Lies was turned into an overhead maze game.
The Darkman games sucked. Like, REALLY hard too.
I'm not suprised, Coppola has plenty of reason to be pissed. And this trend will just continue, I mean come on, there is a Scarface game essentially piggybacking this game where it takes place AFTER the end of the movie where Tony Montana gets killed.
Die Hard Arcade converted from the japanese game into another adventure of John McLain was fucking great.
The instant Godfather 2 wrapped, Coppola became completely worthless in all respects (actually, Apocalypse now was also great). Godfather 3 may be the worst movie of all time. EA can't ruin the godfather, Coppola already ruined it in a million different ways with the third movie (especially by casting his daughter in a majoy role, and she can't act).
I'm in EA's corner on this one, and that is a first.
I'm guessing Mario Puzo's people have no problem with the game, and that is who matters, not Coppola.
Mario Puzo's family would matter if this was based on the books, but the game is all about the movies. Therefore, I'm going to have to side with Coppola. Plus I really can't resist another chance to sneer at EA, especially over something that looks as bad as The Godfather seems to be shaping up.
James
Yea, Id wager that EA didnt even ask Puzo's people what they think of the game.
This is absolutely ridiculous.Quote:

What? I thought it was pretty good - I liked the whole corruption in the Catholic church angle. It doesn't even rate a 3 on the Alien Ressurrection Appalling Franchise Destruction scale.Quote:

Dude, the best part(s) is when the dude with the glasses takes down the bad guy by holding the guys head to his chest as the alien fucking busts through. And when the new alien bites into the cacooned guys head. I fucking love that movie. It's so off the wall it's great. Great way to kill the alien at the end too.
I hope its as good as the fight club game!
she sure can write and direct though!Quote:

Godfather 1 & 2 (taken as one body of word) are the perfect American movie. They are everything a movie should be, and nothing they shouldn't be.
In comparison (not outright) the Godfather 3 was complete trash. If you liked it, fine, if you thought it compared in any way to the first two, or even deserved the Godfather name, you are a fucking idiot. People booed at the screen when it came out in the theatres and threw their food before asking for their money back, until Sofia Coppola died in the end and they actually cheered. THEY CHEERED, AT THE PREMEIRE! Sofia Coppola's awful acting, Andy Garcia's lame character, the twin bodyguards, shooting people with a helicopter, it was a god-damn parody of the Godfather movies and no fan of the series thinks it is any good.
The fact that people watch it makes me sick to my stomach.
/rant
Yeah, that was overboard, it wasn't terrible, but it was the Episode 1 to the Godfather's Episode 4-6. The series was complete and perfect, and they went and ruined it.
Again, alone as a movie it has a pretty good story and some horrible acting.
Yet more proof that videogames are not art.Quote:

On a side note I just finished Mafia recently, and as far a video game's are concerned, I thought it had one of the best stories I'd ever seen. The only thing I would change is having your last Mission end by going to the Diner to meet with the cop.
Or proof that video games are art that feature people killing each other pretty often?Quote:

Art conveys something of substance about the human condition. Abstract art (some of it, anyway), despite what the philistines say, is art precisely for this reason.
A game is not art. Interactive stories, which is what videogames could become, can certainly be art. We've some games that get close to being art but the form, taken as a whole, does not rise to the standard of art. Yet.
Can we not have this discussion here? Art is defined on a personal level, it is like defining the meaning of life.
Not really. Just because you don't think The Adoration of the Magi is art doesn't mean it's not art. It's not really defined on a personal level.Quote:

Something that the artist probably shouldn't have bothered conveying at all, but he was too stupid to realize it. Musicians express themselves artistically in the form of their compositions, how they play them, and with which instruments, not necessarily by telling us through sound that "sometimes, people is kind." Painters work with line and color for the sake of line and color. Likewise, the artistic relevance of video games shouldn't be decided entirely by something their craft isn't directly concerned with. The creative expression of video game developers is in the design of the video games, and there have been many wonderful things done, even if these things are accompanied by cheesy stories.
OMFG, stuff, so on.Quote:

I agree, a Godfather game is every bit as cheap a cash-in as the Bad Boys: Miami Takedown game. Its existence is every bit as newsworthy.
The director of the movies telling them how much they suck, on the other hand, falls under "human interest".
James
Any thing that is an expression of humans is art. Regardless of others ability to appreciate it as such.
If one were to examine my feces, they would see the everday struggles I go through. The grief is present in its gritty texture and dark-brown hue. One whiff can fill a person with the greatest heartache. Surely this turd was shat in the name of lost love who will never again cook the delicious tender vittles I once loved so.
You said nothing of interest in this post and didn't derail my point. The different posters posting different definitions of art bolsters my argument. There are more papers and books written about what is and is not art it is foolish to think there is a hard-coded definition. If you can find me one that everybody agrees on I'd like to see it.Quote:
