Verizon Fiber Based Internet Service

Verizon ran fiber to my neighborhood last year, and they just finished getting all of the ONT (optical network terminals) from backorder, so service installation is now available.

We use fiber connections at work for servers both network and storage based. We have been joking for years about running direct connections to our homes. this is actually an amazing step forward in service.

This is like in 1997 going from Dialup to DSL/cable.

I setup an installation date for this Friday with the 15mb package.

5mb Down 2mb Up 39.99 a mo or 34.99 with phone service
15mb Down 2mb Up 49.99 a mo or 44.99 with phone service
30mb Down 5mb Up 199.0 a mo or 179.00 with phone service

Unfortunately, Fios is still not available in my area. I remember when I was researching broadband ISPs for Xbox Live back in October 2004, I ran across the Fios site. The d/u speeds seem incredible, but I had to settle for Optimum Online because Fios just wasn't ready.

You're one lucky SOB. Wow. I'm paying $50 for 5Mb Down and a whimpy <~128Kbps Up. I'd be happy with the "5mb Down 2mb Up 39.99" package. Tried my phone number and no luck here. :\

Badass, not available in my area... yet.

We all use cell phones, I don't think I have the house phone of anyone that lives in this county.

Our family absolutely hates Verizon because for years and years they completely fucked up every single time with our bills, so we'd never buy this service from them.

$199 a month is insane, for the record.
