Good shit. If that isn't a render or CG, this will be one of my definite first purchases. Hell, even if it doesn't look that good, it's still fucking PGR, and it will still be purchased.

The point is that it's one thing to have that level of detail on a nothing piece like that...it's completely another to render all the cars and scenery with that same level in real time.
At some point, will the level of detail of the enviroments even matter when you're outputting to 640x480 displays (HD or not)? I think we're starting to really run into limitations of the display devices people use.
And frankly, I could not give two shits about photorealistic graphics. Does this mean that budgets for games and the manhours required to develop them are going to balloon to 10x what they are now? Super; that just makes publishers even more risk-adverse, sticking only to 'safe' brands, sequals, and concepts. (Which are not safe, but that is neither here nor there). If that is the only thing this industry can offer now (I know it isn't... I hope it isn't, anyway) then we (as a body) are in some deep shit.
Now, if this game is as much of an improvement as PGR2 was over PGR1, then all this is irrevelant and I'm stuck with an Xbox Next on day 1. You can not tell that from a single obscure screenshot, though.

Eventually there'll be tools to do grass, and water and shit like that more easily to help reduce cost.
Does anyone other than me see that "XY" at the bottom right corner of the picture?
If not, I'm betting it's drugs.
I still find it funny that the crowd are still cardboard cutouts :chick:
Though if this is the 360 I don't even want to know what the PS3/Revolution will look like.
They probably won't be for long.Quote:

Kudos to Xbox Next.
The game will look like this, and people will still say "oh we don't need new systems, what we have is good enough, hyuk hyuk."
